Crap! I just went to complete my order and it says this now:

"You may only upgrade to the same movie title on Blu-ray. For example, if you own Blood Diamond on DVD, you may only upgrade to Blood Diamond on Blu-ray"

Looks like they went back to the old offer! You can't trade in "any" dvd like it said a few days ago. Ugh! I waited too long

Dammit, I did the same thing! Oh well, that's 50 bucks I don't have to give to Warner.

Re: Warner's new DVD2BLU program begins

I sent six old DVD titles in for the swap on 11/6/2010. According to the USPS tracking, they were delivered to WB on 11/9/2010.

I did not receive a confirmation (per their FAQ) that they had indeed processed the discs I sent in, so I sent off an e-mail yesterday inquiring about the expected turnaround time. Here's the response:

"Thank you for your recent order xxxxxxx, with DVD2Blu.

Unfortunately, the items you have ordered, Constantine, Eyes Wide Shut: Special, Terminator 3: Rise of.., are currently on backorder due to overwhelming demand.

Please accept my apologies for the delay. We are expecting the item(s) to arrive shortly. We will send an email confirmation when your order is processed.

If you have any other questions, or if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

Thank you and once again, we are very sorry for any inconvenience that this delay may cause."

I wonder how long before they actually ship me my discs? Maybe about the time Blu-Ray is declared "a dying" format in lieu of its replacement by streaming media?

Oh wait ... that's already being said ;)

If the deal reverted, fuck.

Yes, the deal ended.

Well, too bad. That's disappointing. I'll send some things in future to upgrade, but frankly without the other deal, I'll just continue waiting on most of these. This had the bad luck to happen at the same time as the Criterion sale.

In fact, I'd possibly like to order all these:

The Assasination Of Jesse James...
The Aviator
Beetlejuice
Blazing Saddles
A Christmas Story
Deliverance
The Dirty Dozen
Full Metal Jacket
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
LA Confidential
Ocean's 11
The Orphanage
Pan's Labyrinth (heard mixed reviews on this one though)
Rio Bravo
The Searchers

Tango & Cash (maybe)
Training Day
Wedding Crashers
2001

Unfortunately, everything in red, some of it the stuff high on my list, I couldn't get, because I don't have them on dvd. Too bad.

I also did not receive a confirmation email that my discs had been received, so I emailed them and they gave me the same line about some titles being on backorder. I replied saying "That's not a problem, I just want to make sure my discs arrived and were accepted." I then got an email back saying yes, they had arrived, and they were acceptable, so hooray for me!

The original deal is back! Turn in any dvds from any studio

I didn't wait this time! Just placed my order!

Did anyone have success turning in a "DVD extras only" dvd?

I got:

A CHRISTMAS STORY
THE SHINING
DARK CITY
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL
CONSTANTINE
RISKY BUSINESS
THE MASK
TRUE ROMANCE

Made another order. Figured it's a good way to get rid of DVDs I've replaced with Blu-ray.

I went all in. 25 titles, about 2/3 of them movies I've never seen.

Still no new titles and many of these are already under $10 around town

Sent them an email since it's been a month since the discs I sent in were received. Here's the latest response:

Hello,

Thank you for your recent order with dvd2blu.com.

At this time, some of the titles on your order still remain on backorder. We are expecting our shipment to arrive soon, and once we receive the inventory, we will begin the processing of your order.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Looks like it might be 2011 before I see my order :(

I hope you split up your order, otherwise those Warner pinheads will hold up the whole thing until all 25 items are instock.

Received my order finally. I made it so long ago I forgot what discs I had ordered. Quite a good haul.

And yes, this does confirm that they will accept extras-only DVDs.

Got mine today. Took a bit longer than I thought, but it's not like these were movies I was itching to watch immediately. Great deal!

Wow, great news! Thanks for the heads up. I might add a few more. I got my batch 2 days ago and I couldn't be happier!

Have there been any similar programs initiated by other studios? I think I've exhausted Warner's minute selection.

I agree. the program is great, the selection is poor with many titles already heavily discounted anyway. With the last program I was going to get some more and couldn't find any.
