re: The Official Eureka / Masters of Cinema Thread
I'm pondering ordering The Prisoner of Shark Island and Nightmare Alley (I already own Gandahar). I import lots of PAL discs for various reasons but I always prefer to buy NTSC if I can. In regards to Nightmare Alley, is the MoC release worth buying over the domestic Fox disc? The Fox disc is missing some extras but has the meat and bones (commentary and trailer) and it looks like they came out around the same time so I'm assuming they're from the same master. Does anyone have advice on which disc to order? |

How fast is the delivery for orders made on their website? I ordered a copy of Gandahar more than a month ago and it hasn't arrived yet (in South Carolina).

Thanks. I e-mailed them, and the answer was that they shipped it right away, but they will send it again, now that it hasn't arrived.

I'm certainly interested in the Mabuse box, and the BDs, but I don't think I'll have the funds any time soon.

The DVDs are among the nicest looking DVDs we've ever released. They look stunning, which is why we're not waiting! Thanks! btw. Both films have full, new, exclusive commentary tracks by David Kalat. |

Grr, looks like I'll be waiting...

What an eye-catching cover! I wish we didn't have to hold out for another year or two for the Blu-ray.

Jeez, even the MOC collection is already past its 100th mark. Even accounting for some of them that I bought and for some which I have a comparable edition for, there's quite a few on the waiting list to be activated once I actually start earning money (I'm slated to get my terminal degree in May).
I guess i should start looking for jobs in the UK. |

Extras on the Lang double-feature:
• Beautiful, newly restored transfers of the films in their original 1.37:1 aspect ratio • Two soundtracks: the native German-language track, and the English-language dubtrack made for overseas distribution • Newly translated optional English subtitles • New and exclusive feature-length audio commentaries, for both Der Tiger von Eschnapur and Das indische Grabmal, by film scholar David Kalat • 20-minute documentary on the making of the Indian epic • Three minutes of vintage 8mm footage shot on location by actress Sabine Bethmann • The original French trailers for both Der Tiger von Eschnapur and Das indische Grabmal • A lengthy booklet containing an essay on the films by Lang scholar Tom Gunning (The Films of Fritz Lang: Allegories of Vision and Modernity); excerpts from interviews with Fritz Lang about the film; and more! |

I'm gonna wait for Blu-ray on these.

I think it's time for me to start my MOC collection by getting Sunrise and City Girl BDs and Eureka seems to have the best price. Anyone know of a better price?

No, £12.99 each is a pretty good deal. Both are £15.99 from Amazon before VAT is removed and shipping added. You're in for a real treat with the Murnaus - both, especially City Girl, look phenomenal. Tokyo Sonata and Mad Detective @ £8.99 each are serious steals as well.

Thanks for the info. I forgot to ask: are the Eureka prices with or without VAT? If it includes the VAT, do they remove it?
