Re: The Official Eureka / Masters of Cinema Thread
Notice a 2/£33 offer for IN THE LINE OF DUTY 3 and 4 (versus £36 regular price). Still waiting on a supplements announcement on the US set (which I suspect is being deliberately withheld so as not to hinder sales of Eureka's editions), but for those tempted by both 'sets' -- which ultimately could include me -rolleyes- -- this might be worth noting.

It looks like they will be putting out a set of Mr. Vampire 2 - 4.
edit: and Vampire vs Vampire. Burning Paradise too. |

Eureka is really going all in on the martial arts and Asian cinema in general. I have Burning Paradise coming from Vinegar Syndrome.

I'm probably misremembering this, but wasn't BLONDE FURY also announced by an American label?
Also, looks like they're slipping in another price increase on this one (but smaller increases on the two Japanese titles?). Assuming one doesn't take the bundle deal, BLONDE FURY is £3.00 more than any of the IN THE LINE OF DUTY movies, all of which have equivalent supplements, slips, are generally better known, etc. Too bad they couldn't have dug up Jeff Falcon for an interview, but if VS couldn't get him for his own SIX STRING SAMURAI, I doubt he'd make himself available for this. |

I remember Djeng asking a question in a FB group about Blonde Fury, then a few days later a pic of interviewing Rothrock on social media, which 88 posted as a story. I may have posted that in the 88 thread. I'm not sure if 88 are doing it, but I think he later came to say that he was also interviewing her for another movie for 88... which will be Magic Crystal. Regarding the price... he says "all those new talent interviews don’t come cheap." |

I do recall some mention of 88's MAGIC CRYSTAL around here. Picked up the HK disc in a recent half-price sale at Panorama, and it's pretty decent. No real supplements to speak of. Not sure it's one I need an SE of -- it's pretty goofy, but in typical HK fashion -- but time will tell. |

Anyone have the Police Story 4k set? Those are my favorite movies I had while collecting the Dragon Dynasty Dvds and would love to upgrade if the set is good.

Those caveats aside, these are the best these movies have ever looked and sounded on home video and until new scans are done for 1&2, it's not going to get any better. If you are a fan of the movies, then the set is a no brainer. |
Re: The Official Eureka / Masters of Cinema Thread
David M. and Fidelity in Motion did the compression/encodes for the set, so this is the best the films will probably ever look on 4K disc, even if they used the Ritrovata restorations as a baseline.
