Re: Gremlins ------> September 29th (Target Exclusive)

Watched this tonight, definitely a fun little flick. I hadn't seen it in years and honestly didn't remember much of it.

The Blu-ray is fine and I assume the picture is pretty representative of what the theatrical exhibition was like. Some shots are kind of soft but the print and detail are OK for the most part.

I'd say it's worth a buy, especially if it gets to $15.

Just a bump here to let everyone know that this disc has now been put on sale for $19.99, so if you bought it for $22.99 on release week, go repurchase it now and return it on your original receipt to get back your $3....

Re: Gremlins ------> September 29th (Target Exclusive)

When I did an amazon search for Gremlins it has 3 different listings. Does anyone know if there are different versions of this release, and if so what are the differences?

Just an FYI: Walmart's version of Gremlins comes with a nice foil and embossed slipcover.

I'm a slipcover nerd, and it sucks that Target didn't get them. Now I'm mulling buying a copy, keeping the slip and returning the disc. Damn my OCD!

I've had an obsession with slips since they were introduced on DVD.

BTW, What BD player did you get?

Re: Gremlins ------> September 29th (Target Exclusive)

the pioneer bdp-120 for starters, but i think i will give it to my father and upgrade to something bigger soon.
in any case i am really happy having finally made the move! software prices are very good at the moment (sometimes even cheaper than the 2disc version), so it just didn`t make sense to me anymore to spend the same amount of money on a lesser dvd product.
i was just a bit stuborn to already switch now just because some labels were
trying to force it with their release tactics, but it is definitely worth it!
what really pushed me was the fact that i saw transformers and bourne supremacy on tv in hd and realized that even when upscaled my dvds don`t look anything close.
its good for my nerves as well, because now i don`t even have to bitch
about warner`s barebones releases anymore
plus i am even catching myself rebuying some of my favorite titles already, although i had sworn never to double purchase again
guess i am the dream movie studio client

Watching this right now with my 9 and 5 year-old daughters.

The scene when they attack the Fuddermans, my youngest says, "What are they doing?"

"Hanging on that guy's antenna."

"What's an antenna?"

Perfect

Has anyone seen the slipcover anywhere else besides Amazon and Walmart? Those are the two places where I'm guaranteed to get gipped on the slipcover.

Everybody has the slipcover except Target. At least all the places I've been that have it now.

How did the 5 year old react to Pheobe Cates "why she hates Christmas" story? One of my biggest pet peeves is when a holiday show states there is no Santa.

Heh, I don't remember specifically seeing that scene for the first time... I first saw it on tv in the late 80's, maybe it was cut. Got mine (with slipcover) from DVD Empire, looking forward to watching in the next few wks.
