Monster is a steal at that price.
I was super hyped for Gladiator, but we all know how that turned out. Fucking Paramount...

I may netflix Braveheart and Gladiator to see if they are worth getting. Other than that, I won't get anything at all - guaranteed.

Not a very exciting week, but I have pre-ordered:
Fire and Ice
CSI: The Complete Ninth Season (should look great in HD).

Braveheart is on my list. Gladiator was also a sure bet, but now I'm not so sure, after seeing the problems with the transfer. Depends on whether Best Buy's sale can win me over (and if Paramount is willing to recall these discs for one using a better transfer).
Fire And Ice will be one I get eventually.

Not touching Gladiator or Braveheart with a 10 foot pole... waiting for the inevitable look-we-finally-mastered-it-properly! double-dip.
Maybe MASH, if I find it for a great price (will not spend more than 20 bucks), but it would be a blind buy. Love Altman's other work so maybe....

People like different things. These "What are you getting" threads are fun because it is interesting to see what titles are popular here. But it isn't necessary to dump on the choices of others.

Big week for me:
Heroes: Season 3
The Girl Next Door
Braveheart
Gladiator (even with the visual issues, I never got it on DVD, and I'm already getting Braveheart, so it only costs me $12.99 more)

While I will agree with you that M*A*S*H is probably overrated, it is best seen as a movie of its time. An anti-war movie ostensibly set during the Korean War that came out during the height of the Vietnam War was pretty popular among draft-age students of the time. My draft lottery number was 293. Why would I remember that number? If you can answer that question you will understand why I rather enjoyed M*A*S*H and that it has a certain nostalgia value for me. Others like it because the movie was innovative in several respects.

I'm also older than the vast majority of members here so many movies are nostalgic for me. I saw Smokey and The Bandit the summer I graduated high school and drove a couple Trans Ams for many years due to that movie. That movie is certainly more special to me than others that just think of it as an old comedy. I lived the muscle car, CD and Trans Am crazes.
I believe as long as we aren't being hostile, or personally attacking individuals it's fine to mention opinions on movies we aren't going to be getting as well as those we will be picking up. No offense but it seems like the thread would be pretty boring if all we did was have a mutual admiration society.

Lol, I totally missed that Girl Next Door was coming out, that is a definate buy for me because I LOVE that movie. I remember skimming over the list in the OP and thinking that was the Playboy Girls Next Door show.

I was going to pick up Gladiator and Braveheart at Best Buy until I read all about the visual problems on Gladiator. I'll wait for a fixed release of Gladiator and a sale on Braveheart, no need to rush now that the 2 for deal is busted.

'Puppies & Kittens' sounds soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute - I'm so buying it!!!
I'm pissed at the whole 'Gladiator' PQ debacle, but I'm tempted to stand around at Best Buy tomorrow and see if anyone would go in with me (whose only buying 'Gladiator') and split the discounted price - out of principle I don't want to give my money until Paramount has given a statement about the shoddy transfer.
