Terminator Salvation to get a R-Rated release...
Blu-ray.com
The Blu-ray release of 'Terminator Salvation' hasn't been officially announced, but the latest bulletin of the Motion Pictures Association of America includes among the film it has rated a new version of 'Terminator Salvation', which is rated R "for some violence and brief nudity".
When the movie was about to open theatrically, there was some controversy as to what was cut from the movie to achieve a PG-13 rating. In January 2009, McG boldly proclaimed, "we don't care about the rating". But in May, in an interview with Sci-fi Wire, McG admitted that he had shot an R movie, but he cut one shot "of the Marcus character stabbing a screwdriver through the shoulder of one of these thugs" to warrant a PG-13 rating, because "that would be ridiculous to make it tough for kids to go see this movie."
There was also a topless scene of Moon Bloodgood that McG, even though he thought it was "beautiful", it was deemed gratuitous and hence dropped from the film. Obviously, not too gratuitous for home video.

I haven't seen Terminator: Salvation yet, due to the bad reviews it got (though I probably will eventually). I hope the R-rated cut will include more than just extra violence/nudity -- perhaps some scenes to make it a better movie maybe?

As far as I know they only cut two minor scenes to get it down to a PG-13 rating. The R cut will literally change nothing about the film except adding 1 scene of mildly-graphic violence and 1 scene of nudity.

I was going to wait for the inevitable R-rated/unrated/whatever "Director's Cut", but wound up watching it in the "away" theater -- and I enjoyed it. A lot more than I expected, too, thanks to having my expectations shot to pieces by all the poor reviews and bad word of mouth. Yes it has problems, but, doggonnit, I had fun with it. I'm looking forward to the Blu-ray.

This film was not terrible. I liked it better than the rehash that was part 3. I find it laughable that people are bashing it, and in the same breath admitting they never saw it.

Taken for the what the movie is (a different interpretation from a different writer, director and cast) I thought it was well done. Throughout the entire film I was entertained and I still cared about these characters - 20 years and several actors later.
I'm glad that the R rated cut will be available. That makes this title go from a "maybe" to a "first week purchase" in my book.

This is a really good article about the Terminator Salvation that could have been:
http://www.chud.com/articles/article...ION/Page1.html
It's filled with spoilers, so don't read it unless you've seen the movie.
I'll give this a rent or something to see if the R-rating improves it, but the movie was just kind of uninteresting to me. It treaded familiar ground. Sam Worthington was good, though, and Arnold's digital cameo was kinda cool.

I'm in for this, it wasn't a masterpiece but it was enjoyable in theaters.

Terminator Salvation is a long way from being the worst of the big summer releases. I would say that title is equally shared by the abominations known as Wolverine and Transformers 2. Those 2 movies are nearly unwatchable.

Well, I don't know about the Project Angel climax of the unused draft, but I really liked Worthington as Marcus, so more of that would have been appreciated, and I also really like the idea that Connor is a bit of a ghost that you don't see until the ending, plus, development of Kyle Reese would have been cool. As for the very ending of the original draft, at least it's interesting, ballsy and different. People would have complained, but I think could have been cool. Most people seem to have tuned out of this franchise because of T3 anyway.

Terminator Salvation is among the worst films of the summer, and once the DVD is out, I'll be able to see Moon Bloodgood's tits online for free. Pass.

This. Movie. Sucks.
Seriously this was a terrible summer for franchise pictures (wolverine, transformers, gi joe)
Star Trek was the only decent one.

Guess I am in a small majority here. I enjoyed it for a brainless scifi action film. It wont be a Cameron film like the first two and cant be worse than part 3 which wasnt so bad. Definitely worse movies out there nowadays. Ill be picking up the BD on day one. Bale was definitely not on his game this movie but if he didnt star in it, we wouldnt have gotten that grant rant that he did while filming it.

Hopefully they will include D-box on this release, Seeing it in D-box in the theatre was a great experience.
