The lossy DD5.1 track may sound terrific. Regardless: there's no legitimate reason to exclude a lossless track. EVER. This is Blu-ray. It's expected.
I've still got the DVR'd copy of this film from its StarzHD broadcast. I don't need this "upgrade".

Glad its only costing me $13.99 or I would have thought twice about paying for this one.

Who cares? Can't the human ear not even tell the difference past 170ish kbps? I can't even tell the difference between 125 and 320 MP3s.
Sounds like a good idea to me!
why not a special edition VHS release?

It's a miracle that we even got Grindhouse in its entirety so I don't plan on looking a gift horse in the mouth.
(Plus with my $13.99 pre-order, I can't complain. )

Don't want to raise all of this fracas again, but it's ever-so-slightly suspicious that the packaging lists all the trailers except Machete, and makes it look like the features correspond to the movies, which is bizarre. Not very well-laid out. Plus, no mention of Wright's track? I'm sure it's on there, but he deserves mention as much as Roth.

This is like when an OOP album is only available through iTunes or Amazon MP3 instead of a CD. It may be the only reasonable option for a long time.

Eh, no biggie.
Lossless is nice... but just having the entire film out is nicer! Can't BD do Dolby Digital Plus? I guess than was just an HD-DVD thing.

I have a Dolby demo Blu-Ray that has Dolby Digital Plus, some of it is even 7.1. I've never seen a regular Blu-Ray release with it though; almost every HD-DVD had it.

Best fucking deal for a film I've ever wanted on BD.

The only reason they waited was they wanted you to buy the extended cuts first. Now that the theatrical version is available it is (in my opinion) inevitable that a complete set will be down the road in the next 3-5 years. Until then my Extended cuts will suffice.

If there is a complete set, it'll package together the three existing discs: the chances of them re-authoring just to include lossless audio are microscopic.

And no, that won't happen.
