They were pressed a while ago so it makes sense for Best Buy to have a 30 day exclusive on their hands for a little amount of additional money. Didn't work well for their last one though (Children of the Corn). Hold on to your receipt since COTC went down to $12.99 almost exactly 30 days (after normal return period has ended) after its 'limited' release.

They (and other retailers) occasionally buy 30/45/60 day "exclusive" rights to a title. It's been happening for years. In this case, these discs were already pressed and ready to go and I bet BB (or Universal) made them an offer to have an exclusive selling window on them. Best Buy has done this with Anchor Bay and Warner Blu-rays before (if not more studios). It's neat for consumers as they get a chance to get these 'early' but pay a small premium to do so. Studios are still shuffling around release dates so its very possible they don't want to sit on so many pressed discs when they can get some out to stores right away and make a nice little deal with said retailer.

Will they refund the balance if the price goes down but the discs have been opened?

Though, it seems unlikely that they'd drop much further below 19.99 anyway, given BB's prices. $20 apiece actually isn't that bad.

After the 30 days - no. Before 30 days - yes (or just re buy them at the lower price and return them with the original receipt). If you are a Silver member (like me) you get a 45 day return period.

The Universal HD DVD ports drop in price pretty fast though. So $20 now may be $15 or less in a month or two. But if you want to see this type of 'early' thing continue support Best Buy and buy them.

Hot Fuzz is fairly recent and both looked pretty good so I doubt Universal did any additional work on either of these. Reviewers have not even received them yet.

Agreed...I would be especially surprised if Hot Fuzz is a new transfer...the HD DVD looks flat out awesome...and Shaun of the Dead is no slouch either

I'll be holding on to my HD DVD's for Fuzz & Shaun until these are in the bargain bin...or my A2 and A3 crap out. Glad to see Universal finally getting these out on Blu-ray though...

Universal has finally set the Hot Fuzz: Ultimate Edition for Blu-ray Disc release on 9/22 (SRP $26.98). Extras will include 5 audio commentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes, storyboards, photo galleries, a storyboard gallery, video blogs, behind-the-scenes featurettes, trailers, the U-Control Fuzz-o-Meter, D-Box enhancement and BD-Live options.

Does anyone really need FIVE commentaries?!

I don't know. I'm also not sure that the BD won't, but I haven't seen a Universal release with disc art in a while. I sold my DVD copy, so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure it had disc art on all 3 discs.

No, it didn't. The HD DVD of Hot Fuzz was a combo, so unless you want to consider the rainbow refraction of the DVD side of the disc "art", it didn't have disc art...

Shaun of the Dead, on the other hand, did have disc art on HD DVD.

Yeah..not really a port when it includes additional extras that were dropped from the HD-DVD release...

No disc art. When did Universal drop disc art? All of my other Uni titles have art.

Years ago? None of my Universal BD releases have disc art. I want to say the same about the HD-DVDs that I own as well, but I can't remember.
