I wish Warner would do what Sony is with their Digitbooks and print the back coverart on the actual book instead of a piece of paper that falls off. Looks a hell of a lot nicer.

That'd be nice, but I won't be holding my breath.

Oh, and this will be on a BD-25, according to blu-ray.com. Perhaps that's enough space for the film, a lossless audio track, and a few SD extras...

Considering the HD DVD is nearing 3 years old cramming all of that plus a TrueHD track shouldn't be to hard. IIRC, the encode of the HD DVD was pretty small and a lossless track should fit just fine on a BD25 with the extras in SD. This is all out the window is Warner re-does the encode of course.

Re: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - 10/20

Even if Warner re-does the transfer, it most likely will be VC-1 regardless. Has Warner used the AVC codec on a BD release yet?

Even with a TrueHD track and the extras in SD; all of that will fit comfortably on a BD-25.

I believe all Warner titles have been VC1.

Every Warner title I've encountered has been VC-1. I think everything I've seen from BBC, HBO, and New Line have also been VC-1, but I could be wrong.

A few of the very early Warner titles used MPEG-2....I know that Training Day and The Fugitive did....also Rumor Has It, Good Night And Good Luck, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang might have as well....

I thought 'The Fugitive' got a new encode/pressing.

Yeah, that looks to be back in the early days. The HD DVDs all had VC1. Paramount was doing the same thing with some of their early BDs vs HD DVDs.

I'd like to get this. Is it worth buying if you have the DVD? (I have the R1).
Is the mono track present on the BD?

I'm surprised people like the coverart so much.

I was about to buy this until I saw the price: $34.99 Canadian so I decided to pass on it.

Will wait for a price drop.

I found this like a week or two ago at Best Buy not realizing it wasn't supposed to be out either. I also saw it at Target yesterday.

Re: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - 10/20

So do any of the retailers not know when the actual release date is? It seems like they don't or they don't care as it is a catalog title.

The pieces of paper that just fall of the back of the case are annoying. I slightly (very slightly) damaged my Spongebob art due to this

Who says? Even on this site they have it listed as being released on the 20th.

Warner. It was changed to 10/6. Retail stores may have not gotten the notice. Amazon has changed it to 10/6. Warner sent me copy on 10/6 (along with the rest of my order from WBShop.com). It's 10/6. It's Willy Wonka, not Transformers, so some stores probably don't give two shits to be honest.

And yet most major retailers had it in stock on the 6th.

Re: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - 10/20

Is the Digibook going out of print? I know the standard case version went on sale last month. But does that mean the Digibook will disappear? Amazon seemed to have stopped selling them. I better act fast & pick one up!
