Inglourious Basterds to be released on Blu-ray by Universal...not Weinstein
As I mentioned here (and on another forum where I was attacked by members for saying such things), Weinstein is having major financing issues and will be allowing Universal to release to Blu-ray domestically (and not so 'full frame' Alliance featureless job). If not for the all the nods 'The Reader' got we would have never been able to get The Reader on Blu-ray (domestically) either.
Looks the those HD DVD exclusive titles may stay exclusive for a while (unless they are sold to Alliance like Black Christmas 2006 was). And Weinstein still holds the rights to: Kill Bill TWBA, Grindhouse, Night of the Living Dead and Suspiria

Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that The Weinstein Company, beset by financial problems, is scrambling to secure the money to promote the theatrical release of Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds'. More importantly for us, Universal is now cited as having the domestic home video rights to the movie (including Blu-ray), much to the chagrin of Genius Products.
This is bad news for The Weinstein Company, of course, but good news for Blu-ray enthusiasts, because TWC's support of BD has dwindled recently. 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' was released day-and-date with DVD; 'The Reader' was released two weeks after the DVD; and 'Outlander' and 'Fanboys' haven't received a BD release at all.
On the other hand, with Universal a day-and-date BD release of 'Basterds' is all but guaranteed.

That's fine with me. The Weinsteins couldn't pull their own heads out of their asses if you gave them a diagram.
