It would be great to go, but there is no chance that I can attend, so I'm out here and still no dice. Ah, work.

Gee, they must have spent at least thirty seconds on each of those 'hilarious' covers.

agreed. Fake Criterion covers seem to have been done to death...and while some are fantastic...the ones in that link are not.

Yeah those pretty much suck ass. I have a few custom fake criterion covers for blu-rays and DVD and they are pretty slick.

I have Good Burger also

I went ahead and ordered both Cronos and Videodrome from DDD (I know they're slow as shit). Each of them came out to 23 and some change after using the 25 off. Thanks for that review NoirFan!

Too bad Criterion couldn't hold off on their Blu-ray until the Fox restoration, but the forced subs make the (Region B I assume?) French disc a pass.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Hi everyone. This is my first time in this thread. I'm not sure why I haven't been following it consider my love of Criterion. Anyway...Question:

Where's the best place to get the latest rumors regrading Criterion Blu-ray releases?

scuse my language, but that fucking sucks....

what's with the aspect ratio? I thought DVDBeaver stated the negative AR was 2.25, the restoration looks like 2.35

I'm sure any breaking Criterion blu-ray news will immediately be posted by someone in this very thread.

Not exclusively Blu-ray, but this thread on the Criterion Forum is a good resource.

There was a fake criterion cover of Ninotchka that I've seen that is pretty cool.

It's actually 2.55:1, which is odd. Criterion/BFI used 2.21:1 because that was the AR of the 70mm enlargements. Some of the DVD editions are 2.35:1 because that was presumably the AR of the 35mm 'Scope reductions. Maybe they were wrong and the 'Scope prints were actually 2.55:1 -- in the U.S. 2.55:1 was dead by the end of the fifties, but perhaps Italy stuck with it longer.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

yeah apparently shot at 2:55:1 but shown regularly at 2:20:1.

The colours look slightly better on the Fox, but at least in the screenies, the Fox has slightly less detail IMHO.
