Maybe the artist is not-so-subtlety hoping his coworkers will nickname him "T-bone".

Unfortunately he had a copy of this sitting on his desk:

Even if it were a spectacular release, after shipping it would cost me roughly $78 CAD to purchase from Japan. Nevermind that there's a chance I could get dinged with Canadian duties adding another $10+ to the overall cost.

For that price, I'd expect the David Lynch Collection.

I'd totally buy a Criterion release of The Straight Story.

As for Fire Walk With Me - what are the odds of a version with the deleted scenes added in?

None. Lynch doesn't believe in Director's Cuts or alternate versions of movies. He has had the right of final cut written into all of his contracts from Blue Velvet forward and won't work without it. The theatrical release of the movie is his intended version.

Lynch has described the deleted scenes to Fire Walk With Me as windows into what else was happening around town at the time of the movie. He's OK with people watching them as their own thing, but doesn't want them incorporated into the movie itself.

The complete TP blu set goes for just a few dollars more than a standard Criterion blu, which would be movie only. It really makes no sense for anyone to buy a Criterion edition of just the FWWM blu, when they can have the whole series for just a couple dollars more.

That's it. I'm convinced that the Fire Wok With Meat hint was just a red herring, and they're actually going to release Lost Highway instead!

(but probably not...)

Perhaps Panic Room may be released in the future? It's the only Fincher film not yet released on Blu-ray.

Not sure if this link will work, but I just saw this for the first time and thought it was pretty cool. To go along with the already posted Ghost World cover art:

I don't know how long they've been doing it for, but it's cool that they're doing art on the inside as well. I just looked at Punch-Drunk Love and realized they have a still on the inside of the case.

I feel exactly the same way. It's actually kind of sad how long they have been using those same clear cases and not utilizing the option to do double sided inserts.

Glad I unloaded the original CC dvd of Sid & Nancy last year for a profit.

I've never picked up Sid & Nancy on home video before because it was either an inferior release or OOP. So glad to see it on the list.

More opportunities to handle films the major studios don't want to, and yet Criterion decides to revisit a mediocre film like Hopscotch?

In for Meantime. But thats it. Never seen the Curtiz film. Actually outside of Casablanca and The Adventures of Robin Hood I haven't seen any Curtiz films.

I'll definitely end up buying Sid and Nancy! Great news. I wasn't expecting that announcement.

The rerelease announcement of Sid & Nancy (as well as getting peanuts for my Straw Dogs Criterion dvd) prompted me to list my Criterion dvd's of Pierrot Le Fou, The Third Man, Chungking Express, Le Cercle Rouge, Army of Shadows, Notorious and Rebecca. As well as some other OOP dvd's that will surely see Blu Ray sooner or later. I sold most for more than I paid for them. Chungking Express went for 70 bucks. Almost 4 times what I paid for it. I don't know what I was thinking holding onto them.

Many of those titles are owned by Rialto. They ended their licensing deal with Criterion and they did their own blu-rays.

I wonder if there was ever any talk of Criterion including the tv pilot version of Muholland Dr as an extra on the blu but Lynch told them no

I expect that Criterion probably considered it but Lynch shot them down. He wouldn't even let them include chapter stops on the disc!

FYI, my local Costco has Ghost World in stock for $19.99 this week. Costco is typically very hit-or-miss when it comes to carrying Criterion discs, especially new ones. If you have a membership, this is a great price.
