re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Yeah, more Ray is always a good thing. With the "Apu Trilogy", "The Music Room," the pretty good UK Artificial Eye sets, and MoC's (now OOP, unfortunately) "Abhijan," here's hoping that he finally gets a little more attention in the west, as well as restored, English friendly releases of the rest of his films.

(Though that, of course, is probably wishful thinking.)

The Last Detail would be fantastic. It could really use a nice restoration and a few bonus features (although at least the current DVD is anamorphic).

Yes, it certainly would!

As for general predictions, I'm going to guess Hua Yeung Nin Wa, for no other reason than that I REALLY WANT IT.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I think ultimately we all knew Apu would probably come out, but it's still good news. I can fill a gap in my film knowledge when this happens. Those are all good to hear, but I'm most excited by Hal Ashby. He has several good films, but I'm praying for The Last Detail. Please, please, please, please.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

None of Wes Anderson's "piece of crap" films have made it to BD*, and I doubt we'll start seeing them now.

*This might have something to do with the fact that Wes Anderson has never made a "piece of crap" film.

They can break Five Easy Pieces out of The BBS Story, license Chinatown and give us the ultimate Jack Nicholson sleazebag box set.

Please, Criterion, do not wake me from this dream!

Criterion Cast posted the trailers for Belle du Jour, Godzilla, King of the Monsters!, and Poto and Cabengo.

Wish they would break up that set as well... just so I can get The Last Picture Show.

I'm still amazed we're going to get Gojira. Thisis the first Criterion announcement where I've been salivating over the details.

Only three titles? I'll stick with my import Belle de Jour disc, but I'm in for Gojira and possibly the Rosi.
