BD-LIVE: Is Sony having server troubles?

:I don't know where to post so I am starting here and may cross post:

BD-LIVE: Is Sony having server troubles?

I took/traded in a 'Sony BDP BX1' player due to troubles with a two BD-Live disc's one of them being a Sony disc!

Traded for a 'Panasonic DMP-BD605'.

Finished installing the new DMP-BD605 by installing 2GB of 60X SD Memory.

But not a single 'Sony/Columbia Pictures/MGM' BD-Live will connect with their servers and as of this evening the only on-screen message is "BD-LIVE Disconnected"

Paramount, WB, disc's all work and connect to their 'BD-LIVE' feature libraries?!?

Is Sony having troubles tonight or is this a bug in this new Blu-Ray player??

Is your player updated with the latest firmware? I can't seem to find that player listed at Best Buy, but it could be an issue of it not being BD-Live enabled out of the box. The Sony BD-Live servers should be up and running. What Sony titles are you using?

The model : 'Panasonic DMP-BD605' : is a warehouse club (Sams & Costco) model number drop the "5" for the retail model number... when I plugged in the unit it updated its firmware and this model has a feature call "Viera Cast" where you can access; YouTube, Bloomberg, Picasa and The Weather Channel through the ethernet connection.

The Sony disc's that I tried were: Casino Royal, Stripper Zombies, Don't Mess With Zohan, Da Vinci Code...

Disc's that worked: Kung Fu Panda, Hulk-2008, Body Of Lies, Iron Man, Wall-e

Do you notice that none of the Sony/Columbia disc's worked yet all the non-Sony studio disc's worked??

Well, I checked out Casino Royale on my Panasonic BD35 and it does work, though it took 5-minutes to finally connect/load.

Does it normaly take that long? For Casino Royale to load??

What is strange is that on the Da Vinci Code disc is a feature called 'CineChat' and I am able to loggin using my BD-Live password?!? Unable to do a chat as do not know of another watching the movie at the same time..

Yeah, it usually does take a long time for certain BD-Live content to load. It's really annoying.

I guess that the Panasonic is timing out at 60 seconds.. And I do not know of any way to change that setting?

Somebody else suggested that maybe my ISP was blocking? But they did not know the DNS of the Sony servers?

A third party suggested that the service was effected due to the fires in California? As two years ago (or so) CNet and another major online Techie news service was offline for a few days when a ''like'' fire hit an area of the state?

BD-LIVE: Is Sony having server troubles?

Is there a web site a Blu-Ray owner can go to and check on ''BD-LIVE Server Status'', as Sony does not have just a 'BD-Live' support web page, the page says to contact hardware mfg. --David

As a consumer I am very VERY upset right now... I spent my whole day off testing my BLU-RAY disc's to make sure that all features/disc's worked on my new player... I am not a paid 'BETA TESTER'!

What I don't understand is why disc's from studio "P" & "W" work while disc's from studio "D", "U", & "S" do not!! And studio "L" it is hit and miss if they work...

Re: BD-LIVE: Is Sony having server troubles?

I wonder if they'll eventually drop BD Live.

I think I tried it once just to see if it worked. I'll bet a lot of people with Blu-ray don't even use it....but who knows.

And 'Blu-Ray' won the war!?!

I am glad I have a HD-DVD player also... A20 / 230 disc's ...not a single disc that would not play other than a defective / bad pressing of 'Lucky Sleven'.. could see the crease in plastic... which the store replaced.
