Night Of The Living Dead?

I know this fell into public domain years ago, but who owns the rights to it now? Is there any word on a blu release.
Sorry if this has been discussed, but I just got a blu ray player two weeks ago and started upgrading my collection.

I'm pretty sure it's still public domain.

Yeah, it's still public domain. There are still as far as I know in-print releases by Elite, 20th Century Fox and Weinstein at the moment, and it's kind of interesting that if you look at the Weinstein release there's no program content copyright on it.

Re: Night Of The Living Dead?

Companies seem to shy away from 1.33/B&W releases on Blu-Ray, but I watched The Day the Earth Stood Still a few weeks ago, and it looked great. I don't think Elite has done any Blu-Ray releases, but somebody should take a stab at Night of the Living Dead.

Weinsteins can release an "official" version while others can do as well since its Public domain. I have the Region B release and it looks awesome!

Re: Night Of The Living Dead?

Looks like there is a second UK BD release of NOTLD coming. It'll be interesting to see a comparison. I just hope this one is region free.

Agreed. I'd love to have this on Blu-ray.

Same here. Also add in I'd love to see the Remake with the bits of gore trimmed out added back in.

Re: Night Of The Living Dead?

This weekend AMC HD showed NOTLD digitally restored. Looked great had the Dimension Extreme logo at the begining of the film. So hopefully a BluRay is in the works.

Edit - looks like they do plan on on releasing a BluRay

Look at that date:
Thursday, April 10, 2008

Weinstein is no longer releasing Blu-rays.

Not impressed by that review. Looks like I'll hold onto the Millennium DVD until someone gets it right.

I'll probably do the same.

The folks at AV Maniacs didn't seem impressed by the transfer, but I would probably pick up the disc if it dropped below $10.
