That's fantastic, but your anecdotal experience does not negate my statements in the least.

I have to side with kefrank in this e-debate. I remember quite a few disk/player combinations had issues that were eventually fixed via firmware update (or in a few cases, judicious application of the ol' soldering iron).

I'm no Blu-ray apologist, but the perception of a high-incidence rate of player "issues" is an inaccurate one perpetuated by internet message boards. Blu-ray as a technology is ready for prime time and has been for awhile.
My negative perception of Blu-ray is coming from the fact that i had to install copy-protection disabling software in my computer, not because I want to copy them (I don't), but simply because Blu-Ray's copy-protection informs me that my Samsung 26-inch LCD HDTV is not an "authorized" piece of equipment to watch Blu-Rays on. This is already a brand-new TV, sorry if I can't go buy another one simply to satisfy Sony's monopolistic ambitions.

This may not be an issue of the technology being subpar, but simply being incredibly user-unfriendly.
