Disney gave him the option to go in and do additional clean-up but he opted not to because, in his own words, "It is what it is. That's what the movie looks like." He told me it was a 2K scan of the 35mm InterPositive and it's "the best the film can look". I'm guessing the Canadian release is based on an older HD telecine, as opposed to a fresh 2K scan like the Disney/Miramax."

If the film's Director of Photography himself approved the transfer, then I am satisfied that it must look how it should....

The question remains how he viewed it (what size was the screen?) I know, I know, "don't trust screencaps", but the CA does look a wee bit better to me and more natural. Since I sold my CA copy, I have no choice but to get the American one, and the differences seem to be small anyway. Shame Smith really didn't care about either of the films though to go back and do anymore cleanup to them.

I want Clerks but 25.99 is the cheapest price I see for it and that is way too much for a triple dip. Hopefully it will be around 15 dollars sooner than later.

The only problem with 16mm is it'll always be constantly more grainy than 35mm, thus the option why some filmmakers choose to shot in the format rather than say Smith's budgetary reasons for both Clerks and Chasing Amy. The only problem I see with more of a clean-up, based on previous BD releases, is just we'd end up getting a very DNR release. I feel a bit more secure with Klein saying "it is what it is" rather than going to town on the transfer.

I was hoping CA wouldn't be so expensive (I got it when it dropped to $24.49), but it's one of my favorite movies, so it's a situation where I'm not willing to wait.

Someone reviewed, not a good review at all but more like a brief opinion, after having seeing both Clerks and Chasing Amy and he said CA looked much better than Clerks.

I can only hope.

I think Kevin and Dave would both agree that Dave's two cents is worth more than Kevin's. I imagine as long as the jokes play and the dialogue is clear, then Kevin is happy.

When I saw Kevin at Benaroya Hall in October, he told a story about being on the set of Dicks where Dave asked what lens Kevin wanted and Kevin just held his hands up to frame himself between them, which told Dave which lens Kevin wanted, and Bruce Willis yelled at Kevin a little for not actually knowing the different lens sizes.

Yup, and Kevin said as much about this transfer on Twitter too.

Yeah, I really want both of these but $26 is ridiculous after the multiple releases already.

That review definitely didn't make me want to get the U.S release (in terms of PQ).

I really want those extras though. So to get everything I want do I need to get the CAN and U.S discs?

Where are we going?

We're going back. Back where we can buy Clerks for 19 bucks so that we can get it in the future. Are you ready?

My buddy owns a Delorean...so we could possibly give it a shot.

Does it have a Mr. Fusion on top? If not, it's probably not a time machine.

If it costs more than 6 dollars to charge the Flux Capacitor then it won't be worth it.

I didn't invent the time machine to buy movies at cheap prices, I invented the time machine to travel through time!

Question to anyone who got the "Kevin Smith 3-Movie Collection":

Are you splitting up the box and placing your titles on the shelf alphabetically, or leaving the box together as a single release?

i never double dipped on clerks x, so i will be picking up clerks on blu-ray strictly for the features. i'm content with staying SD for chasing amy and jay and silent bob.

I already own Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on Blu-ray so I'll be getting the individual Clerks and Chasing Amy Blu-ray's eventually... as for what I would suggest doing: ditch the box. That's how I would handle it anyway. I like keeping films in order from director's I'm a fan of so I would find it difficult to leave them in the box and not have Mallrats and Dogma in their proper spots. Plus, if your like me, you would want to make an exception and put Clerks and Clerks II next to each other.

Ditch the box. Or at the very least fold it up and put it in a storage container away from the shelf.

Thanks. That's kind of how I was leaning after looking at it on the shelf for a couple of days. The titles aren't part of a series like Infernal Affairs or Bourne, so the box is not really relevant.

I like the box. I don't mind if they are not in their alphabetical order or by order of release. I have the Ultimate Comedy Collectionm featurinf 40 Year-old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Forgetting Sara Marshall under U. The ultimate matrix collection is under U also. I'll just file this under K for Kevin. Doesn't really matter to me.
