Clerks and Chasing Amy coming to Blu-Ray ( according to Kevin Smith )

I was listening to the new Smodcast on Kevin Smith's website ( www.viewaskew.com), and he mentions that Clerks and Chasing Amy are coming to Blu-Ray. He doesn't specify release dates, but he does say that they are working on a new documentary for Chasing Amy.

I don't think Clerks would benefit much from BR treatment. Plus I don't know if I really want to rebuy any of his movies on BR, except maybe J&SBSB.

Chasing Amy comes out next week in Canada on Blu-ray (sans extras). I'll be picking that up because I have no intentions of waiting for Smith to get around to it. Will be nice though to have all of his films in HD (including Mallrats o HD DVD)

Love clerks but will pass. Chasing Amy will definitely be a buy for me. Best film he did IMO.

Chasing Amy will be a day one purchase for me and I will keep my Criterion copy of the DVD.

I have Clerks and Clerks X, am a KS fanboy, but will only pick up Clerks in the bargain bin to complete my collection.

Relative to other films, no, I doubt Clerks will be any kind of revelation on BD, however there will still be a slight benefit as 16mm (which the film was shot on) does offer a higher resolution than the 480p of standard DVD....and gosh darn it, I want my graininess crystal clear! ;)
I just hope they port over all the features from the "Clerks X" release....

For the record... Chasing Amy was also shot on 16mm (Super 16) to save budget.

I will probably pick up the Blu-ray as a girl I dated totally stole my Criterion CA DVD.

I wonder if Criterion will be handling the release? Or perhaps Weinstein or Disney? Who knows.

It will likely be Disney.

Please let us know if it's 1080i or 1080p.

Yes, very true, though it was done in color with better cameras, better film stock, and actual professional lighting and studio backing (not just a bunch of guys filming after hours in a quickie-mart in comparison)....

My point being that I have a feeling the Chasing Amy BD will be a greater improvement over the DVD in comparison to the amount of improvement we will see in the Clerks BD compared to the Clerks X DVD...

Its 1080p according to someone who has it in hand.

+1 on both counts.

Never liked Chasing Amy. It all went downhill after the great Darth Vader/ROTJ rant. I have fond memories of Clerks so I may pick that up if I find it on sale.

Clerks definitely... no need for Chasing Amy until it hits bargain-bin prices.

I still have the old Mirimax non-anamorphic edition of Clerks, never got the Clerks X set, so I'll buy it on BD just to get all of the extras.

I already have Clerks X so I don't think I care to upgrade. Might get Chasing Amy based on the picture quality.

I will definitely pick these both up. Both films are worth the High Definition treatment and will be purchases for me! I am so glad to hear they are working on Clerks as that is one that I have really wanted to see as a release on Blu-ray.

It most certainly will be since Criterion declined a second dip on the title last year. I believe that the additional extras are already done.

I find this funny to hear after I just read this interview the other day where he said Clerks on BD would be a big waste of time lol
