Why in God's good name would the Clerks BD include "Oh, What a Lovely Tea Party." when that was originally envisioned for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? But you know what? I'm not going to panic or bitch and moan, I'm happy it's finally seeing the light of day.

And what Dimension properties that Miramax still owns besides the ones made prior to them leaving? The Weinsteins have been the owners of the Dimension label since they started TWC and took all the sequel rights with them (Halloween, Scream, etc). If they were smart, they should've started the company by purchasing Miramax back, because even if their theatrical distribution side didn't take off (ahem), they would've had a nice catalog to make millions with via home video. However...

[It's too bad some of my most awaited BDs: Grindhouse, Suspiria, etc. are now currently in the possession of TWC and I won't even see them until they declare bankruptcy and are taken to another company which then hits the roadblock if the other company even wants to deal with said properties.]

Because the BD for JASBSB has already been pressed. Better to toss it on an upcoming Kevin Smith film than none at all. Didnt Disney do this with that Dogma doc?

Not sure what the deal was when they left...but they can't afford either catalog right now. They can't even put out Basterds by themselves. They'll be all but done by the end of the year so hopefully another studio buys them up.

It's funny. The Dogma doc was originally produced for a Disney film which ended up becoming a Lionsgate theatrical release that Sony owns the home video rights to that finally made it's way to the DVD release of Vulgar (a Lionsgate DVD) only as Sony didn't want the controversy.

TWC is theatrically releasing Basterds (along with Halloween 2), but to help foot that bill, they sold the home video rights to Universal (the flick's international distributor). The company only has $30 million left to it's name, so if both films bomb, there goes the studio.

Should be interesting to see if Basterds does well...which I don't think it will. H2 should pull in decent numbers though. To bad they couldn't squeeze a Scream 4 out earlier.

I don't think it well either and H2 could go either way, especially with Warner releasing The Final Destination (in 3D) the same day (that's where my money will be going on said weekend).

Oh, damn. Forgot that FD4 hits the same day. I'll be watching that instead (GF would watch that but not H2 as she couldn't handle the first). Enjoyed Zombie's Halloween, but will see H2 on Blu-ray (or DVD...) instead. The 3D gimmick will work well with FD4.

90 minutes of new features for Clerks, 4 hours of new features for Chasing Amy. The new material isn't detailed (and is in fact written up inaccurately, since there was never a Criterion Collection edition of Clerks), but there is cover art.

So this J&SB is the same as the one currently out....bare bones. Guess I still have to hang on to to my 2 disc DVD for the sups. -ohbfrank-

Chasing Amy looks like an excellent upgrade, although I'll miss the old Criterion logo.... :(

I can't see upgrading Clerks. Won't it actually look worse because you can see the graininess more?

Interesting. Buying Clerks & Chasing Amy will run you $56, or you can get the box with J&SBSB for $7 more. Hopefully those individual prices drop a bit.

I don't think it will look worse, just not much different. The extras are all that really interest me on it, but it will have to drop a lot in price before I'm buying.

Not sure if I care enough to upgrade Clerks from the previous Clerks X release. Chasing Amy is a definite buy for me though.

Awesome extras! I'm glad to see the Q&A in there as Kevin Smith mentioned 2-3 years ago at Wondercon they were filming one for a future Chasing Amy DVD.

Chasing Amy is my favorite film so I am glad it's getting this kind of treatment. Definitely will be picking it up on BD.

I really hope it was just an oversight in this posting/list, and the original commentary with Ben Affleck will also be included...it would be a MAJOR disappointment if they were to leave off such a classic track....

The commentary from the Criterion dvd is NOT included.

Eh, looks like I was right about at least one of the extras not being ported over (the commentary, and the intro, for that matter, although that was just so Smith could apologize for the "Fuck DVD!" comment).

Oh well, I'm hanging onto that release anyway. But I'll be picking up both Blu-Rays.

I bought my CA DVD from Smith's site autographed so I'm obviously hanging on to it anyway. Still a shame not to have everything in one place.

I'm looking forward to buying Chasing Amy...

I love the cover for Clerks, hopefully some good special features on that.
