Our good friend Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits got the inside scoop on a few upcoming titles Paramount is currently working for Blu-ray release (along with a few rumored release dates). First up is the Oscar-award winning 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' which is rumored to be released on May 5th (retailers were alerted to a pre-order last week), day-and-date with the DVD release. No other details are known at this time.

In July, you can expect to see 'Friday the 13th: Part 2' and 'Friday the 13th: Part III' to be released to coincide with the Blu-ray release of the 2009 remake of the original film.

Still on the release list are 'South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut', 'Gladiator: Director's Cut', 'Forrest Gump', and 'Braveheart: Special Collector's Edition' - all of which we still get asked about at least once a week. They're coming!

I wonder what happened to the Lemony Snicket disc we had seen in previews years ago.

Ok, Paramount, those are neat and all, but... where's Chinatown?

Hate to nitpick because i'll take what I can get, but I wonder why they couldn't just give us both cuts ala King Kong instead of just the Director's cut.

I want Paramount's Centennial Collection on Blu-ray.

They've already said a box set of 1-8 is coming either late this year/early next year.

And, yet, though I know that fact I'll still buy both of them in July.

Now they just need to get on Once Upon A Time in the West!

I'm kinda surprised they haven't already put that one out... it's one of the few films from Paramount that got Oscar nods in the last 10 years.

Interesting... for some reason I thought I might be the only one wanting this to hit Blu-ray soon. Maybe there's hope for a release sooner rather than later after all.

Out of that list, I will get South Park. Maybe Braveheart when it's cheap.

You know as well as I do, being a F13th fan, that they will put out all 8 films individually on Blu and then bend us over with a box set that has exclusives.

2 and 3 in July

4 and 5 in lets say October

6, 7 and 8 when?

Paramount is keen that after 4, the rest will sell like crap. A boxset is likely...but they may hold off until next year. They have way to much stuff planned to drop a $150+MSRP set on us in October/Nov/Dec. And if they did, I'd eat it up
