Anyone else willing to give their left foot for X-Files on blu-ray?

Several of the first seasons regular DVDs looked horrible. I long ago sold all my X-Files DVDs, ever since HD TVs and DVDs have showed up. I thought they would make it snappy and release on blu-ray or HD a while ago. Is there any news on when they will be rereleased? Are they releasing them one at a time or waiting until they are all done and release the whole series? When When When?????

I highly doubt this will happen anytime soon, especially after the poor returns from the most recent movie.

If Fox won't put any effort into fixing a single season 6 episode: "Triangle" which for some strange reason is horribly misframed and pixelated. Why would they bother re-mastering the special effects in 200 some-odd episodes for 1080p?

The problem could be much bigger than that. "The X-Files" was probably edited on SD video, so it would entail retransferring the film elements to video in HD, then re-editing each episode.

As for how it might be released, I don't see any long series coming out all at once. It's just too risky to spend the money to produce all that when they don't know how the show will sell.

People would eat up the X-Files on Blu-ray. Fox just doesn't know what it's priorities are and only puts out what it thinks is best. That's the problem. So yes, good luck waiting for the series in HD.

I already gave up my left foot when the Phillies won the World Series.. but I'd love for The X-Files in Blu. Along with Buffy, and Angel, and the Wire, and the Shield and Arrested Development.

I'd buy the X-Files in HD, but it'd have to go on sale first.

It's going to happen sooner or later. It will be done for HD broadcast, and then released on Blu. You can bet that any successful show that was shot on film will be eventually released.

I'd love to have Arrested Development too. I wonder if they'll find a good time to release it.

Perhaps if there was an upcoming movie?

People didn't exactly "eat up" the movie releases, and FOX did a pretty good job with the Blu-rays in terms of A/V quality, bonus features, etc.

Sorry, wouldn't give up any limbs for this. Pretty happy w/ my SD box set.

HOWEVER, I would pick up a saw & seriously consider how much I needed my left foot for a Blu-Ray Farscape Box Set.

Alot of people were upset at the direction the last movie went. It didnt bother me though. I will buy the movie off ebay or when it isnt 30 bucks at BB or target.

Re: Anyone else willing to give their left foot for X-Files on blu-ray?

I really don't see how the success of the 2 movies' sales would effect their decision to put the series out soon. After all, it is because of the success of the series that the movies were even made. If they have any sense, they've already been working on them and they will be out within the year. I don't know how long a process like that takes, but I can't imagine they have a good reason for stalling. The popularity of the series is unquestionable.

They will come out on BD sooner or later.

I'm not a big buyer of TV on DVD, although I did pick up the box set of both X-Files films for $40 when they were released on Blu.

+1

The same studio already released Firefly on Blu-ray, a show with a much smaller following. True, the HD masters already existed for that show but X-Files will get released on Blu-ray. I want to believe...

I enjoy the series. But I wouldn't give up my left foot for it on Blu-ray. I need it for walking.

True, but less than a full season.

I'd love to have X-Files, if done right.

Smaller following on TV, not on DVD.

X-Files was a very solid seller on DVD, Firefly is one of the best selling TV shows on DVD - ever.

But I agree with ScissorsPuppy - it'll happen when its decided the show needs to be prepped for HD broadcast. It won't make enough money on Blu-Ray alone to recoup the costs.

Hasn't Paramount converted all of Star Trek: TOS to HD? That was probably a pretty expensive investment itself considering the age of the original material...

They not just converted though, they went and redid most of the effects and stuff.
