$58 shipped from UK. Supposed to be region free, but I'm holding out.

Ah, well clearly I have not been keeping tabs on this release too closely.

I'm seeing a smattering of confirmations at AVS and elsewhere that the UK set is indeed region free. For $58/shipped, I'm extremely tempted to buy . . .

Are there any screencaps yet ? After the horrible Predator fiasco, I'm really nervous about this.

Yes. They look fantastic.

I'd love to see some comparisons between the blu-ray set and the dvd set.

I would gladly switch my order to the UK version if it's that much cheaper and works in the US.

And, if other places are like the ones I shop at, they'll have them wrapped up so tightly in a spiders that the cases are damaged.

Bestbuy has had other equally or higher priced sets instock release day from Fox, so has target.
so why you think they wont have this is beyond me.
by your rational they probably wouldnt be carrying the starwars boxset next year than either.

Mega-tempted to bite for $60 from the UK but I know the UK rating logos would bother me and some people on Amazon are claiming they heard "locked" to UK.

I have a $5 certificate. If Best Buy ends up stocking it for $84.99 or even $89.99 and we get the same $20-off coupon, that's not bad.

Best Buy's ad for the week of the 26th is out....and they are not advertising the Alien set either!:wtf::doh:

Region locks I can understand, but you'd really spend $30 more not to have UK ratings logos? Between this, the BTTF bitching the eco case outrage, we might as well rename this site "DVD Case Talk."

The Best Buy website pre-order price is $109. Not terribly promising.

It's $65 from the UK, isn't it? $90 - $25 = $75. Only $10 more and I don't have to wait for it to be mailed across the ocean.

I'm more concerned that there would be minor differences on the packaging and discs that would bug me.

$58/shipped from Amazon.uk is what I've heard. For <$60, I'd be willing to wait an extra couple of days. I've got plenty of other stuff to watch in the meantime. :)

But we've still yet to confirm whether or not the UK set is region locked.

The BTTF case blows. I smashed my House case.

Im a pretty design oriented guy and take great care as to how I shelve and organize things anywhere. With that in mind, I do abhore those UK rating logs. They're pretty garish, and due to how think the Alien box should be, it will look horrendous...

"Garish"? "Horrendous"? -screwy-
I'll never understand how something as trivial as a ratings logo can be so bothersome to some people.

How is the little circled '15' any more "garish" or "horrendous" than the Columbia Pictures logo or the Dragon Dynasty numbering or Sandra Bullock's miniature face?

It just is.

Maybe im OCD, but UK rating logos are unacceptable.

If it was OCD I don't think you'd arbitrarily despise one kind of relatively unobtrusive/negligible logo but not all the other various ones. Whatever you have makes a lot less sense than OCD.

Agreed.

If someone was really concerned about the appearance of his home decor, he wouldn't even display hi blu-ray/dvds, and would keep them out of view. What is much more horrendously garish than the UK labels are the living room pictures I've seen of some members with shelves and shelves of this shit out in the open for all to see, many times made even worse, adorned with action figures and the like - basically, vagina repellent.
