Yeah, I love Alien and Aliens...have some twisted interest but primary dislike for Alien 3, and I think Alien Resurrection is ok...though it has some great and visually appealing set design when the shit hits the fan. I LOVE LOVE the features on all the films though. Saying that....I'll get this when it's at $60 MAX.

I'll pay 100 bucks for this set. I watched the Superior Firepower documentary this morning and it reminded me of how awesomely comprehensive this whole set is, plus even more features? Plus they are doing more work to the Alien 3 Workprint so thats enticing, and Ressurection has its moments.

Super excited about the Wreckage and Rape doc. That was my main selling point.

and I think its cool they are including Ridley's original solo commentary. I never got a chance to listen to that when I owned the original Legacy set.

Day One on this and Apocalypse Now.

I've still got it at the Gold Box price at Amazon. I'm just waiting to see if there's any better release week deals from the B&M's.

I wonder what the Best Buy price will be considering I have around 20 bucks in reward cash and 45 in gift cards - as one can tell, I've been saving up for this release.

I'm curious about the price as well. The 26th is going to be an expensive day: Back to the Future, Alien and Rock Band 3. It's going to be a fun day though, that's for damn sure!

Are these different docs than the ones on the old quadrilogy set? I thought that set had an exhaustive amount of docs.

The documentary for the third film that was produced by the Quadrilogy set was heavily edited by 20th Century Fox, in essence because it was a lengthy slam against Fox due to how they treated Fincher. The doc was originally titled "Wreckage and Rape", but when they chopped out around 30 minutes of footage, DVD producer/doc director Charles de Lauzirika took his name off the doc (opting for the pseudonym Fred Garvin instead), and the titles were changed to generic names like "Pre-Production I" and whatnot.

The full doc has been restored to this new Blu-Ray edition. The other documentaries are the same, although there are new PiP interviews, and the uncut Alien Legacy documentary that has been available separately.

Target's new ad doesn't advertise it. Someone posted their price is a low $109.99. I bet those will fly off shelves.

I doubt they'll be carrying this in-store.

Thanks, not worth the upgrade for me.

they are also improving many of the sound elements in Alien 3 as to even having the original actors come in and redub poor quality audio and it wouldnt surprise me if they also finished up some of the dodgy visual effects.

really? wow...either I missed that or you're the 1st to mention it.

Yeah, I haven't heard that either. Are you talking about the theatrical cut of Alien 3 or the workprint?

Workprint. Confirmed by the producer:

"Have no fear. Sigourney returned to loop her lines too. I conducted her session by phone while she was in New York and I was in Detroit prepping "Crave." It was a lot of fun. The new "Alien 3" SE mix is a massive improvement. In my opinion, of course."

There is also a long-lost scene of Burke being cocooned.

short of a David Fincher commentary, I can't think of a single thing that could be done with this set. Quite amazing work, they really went above and beyond with this new release.

Sweet. For a moment I thought they had changed the theatrical cut, which would have been a no-no.

They carry other movie box sets. Why not this?

The set is so expensive that the mass retailers (Wal-Mart and Target) might not want to deal with it... either out of fear of theft or taking up shelf space from things that have a better chance of selling.

And, if other places are like the ones I shop at, they'll have them wrapped up so tightly in a spiders that the cases are damaged.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

hopefully someone can help me.

I ordered Alien anthology - egg LE back in September for a friend. I KNOW I did this.

I went to check on my order, and foxconnect wouldn't recognize my password. Fine, probably forgot it. So I did the 'did you forget the password thing' and it said it would send me a new password.

That was over a day ago. nothing...tried it again... nothing.

I can't seem to find my confirmation order.. I KNOW I did this... I would hate to find out that my order was lost..

There is no support # on the foxconnect website.. I filled out the support question, but have heard nothing....got no e-mail in 2 days... am concerned that something has happened..

and yes, i triple checked my e-mail @ in the form....

ideas??

Do you have a receipt of that transaction?

Steve 10-15-10 12:40 PM

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I can't find the receipt.. But I distinctly remember putting in my credit card information and seeing 'successful transaction.' like a dummy I didn't print it.

I suppose at this point I should order another version.. and if my friend gets 2, I will just have him return it.

But why isn't the contact form working either? I would think they would have sent me SOMETHING..I get tons of e-mail a day on that address.

and when I try to sign up for the newsletter, it says 'expect an e-mail ' but never get anything. And I tried multiple e-mail ids.

This is truly a bizarre experience for me.

Future Shop is offering a $20 off coupon on the set with the purchase of Predators on Blu-ray, making the Alien Anthology $79.99. That's the lowest price I've seen, but still not low enough for me. I love the films, but I'll wait.

$58 shipped from UK. Supposed to be region free, but I'm holding out.
