The fuck you talking about? Blu-rays have that scratch-resistant coating which actually works.

EDIT: Here's a link to the complete disc-by-disc breakdown.
Going by the breakdown, any word if the following featurettes from the second disc for Alien 3 will make it?

-“Pre-Production: Part III” -featurette (11 min)
-“Production: Part I” -featurette (18 min)
-“Production: Part II” -featurette (14 mins)
-“Production: Part III” -featurette (8 min)

It's been a while since I saw them, but I remember a good amount of meat. I'm not seeing anything for these featurettes unless they are renamed or engulfed in a larger featurette.

We're not losing content right?

I'll believe it when I see it. Something is always left off. It may be trivial, or from the Legacy set, but something will be missing.

"New, previously unreleased content includes original screen tests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original Alien, unseen deleted scenes, and the previously unseen original cut of "Wreckage and Rage: The Making of Alien3" (so far only available in truncated form). "

Actually, now that I see the details, I am not as excited. To me, the only new feature that peaks my interest is the extended making of Alien3 doc. Is that enough to spend this much money for the upgrade? The SD PQ was pretty good...unless the BD PQ is substantially better, I may sit this one out.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I'm guessing discs 5 and 6 will be in standard definition. Besides Wreckage and Rage and The Alien Legacy, and some of the still content, there isn't much there that most of us don't already have. It would be nice to see W&R, and Alien legacy, but I don't really need either of them. What I've got on the Quad set is more than I ever re-visit anyway.

As much as I love and want the first movie, I'm going to be a major fool if I can't exercise patience for them to release the first two- the only ones I will ever watch again- separately.

Especially given how packed Q4 will be with 'must haves' this year.

If it isn't substantial I'd be shocked. The darkness of Alien will especially see the huge benefit of an HD upgrade. I get the feeling Aliens will have a soft image, but still see significant detail increase. Alien3 does have great cinematography so a resolution increase will only show that off better. I imagine just because of the relative newness of Resurrection it'll look great, but I can't see many comparing.

This set does have Charles de Lauzirika behind it right? There's no reason to think it won't be a great set.

He posted the trailer I linked above with this comment "Sorry to hype this up so much but after working on it for over two years...well...you understand. BTW: Blu-ray Producers 2010 panel today at 1pm in Room 32AB."

Funny, but someone asked about the trailer:

"did you cut the spot Charlie?"

and his response "Nope. I wouldn't have used as much "Resurrection" footage if I had. "

Does anyone know if these are being released seperatley? I hope so. Just like they did with Planet of the apes cause I really don't want to own Resurrection. You can't polish that turd enough to make me want to own that...

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

to each their own.. My favorite Alien films are (hold on to your hats)... 4, 1, 2, 3.

4 has the most rewatch factor to me. .just pure popcorn fun.. always in a mood for that. and loved the humor.

1? have to be in horror mood.
2? have to be in an action mood.
3? have to be in a gothic mood.

But always in the mood for popcorn!

Seriously. What i like most about this series is that each one is so different.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I've seen pics of the packaged alien/egg set at SDCC.

Anyone know if this is this actually for sale to con attendees? Would be nice to get screenshots and reviews months prior to it streeting.

Do they charge your card right away or only when it ships?

He didn't mean that's the only place you can pre-order it, he meant that all you can do at Comic Con is pre-order it, not actually buy it and pick up a copy.

"Accordion" packaging for the Egg Set?

At least the number of discs has shrunk down compared to the Quadrilogy DVD.

I'm just dying of curiosity about how much of the (relevant) disc 5 & 6 materials are going to make it onto a disc 2 when they break these babies out as individual releases.

Along with taking his name off and calling himself "Fred Garvin", Lauzirika also gave the featurettes generic names instead of their original, more artistic titles. The featurettes you listed are the edited version of Wreckage and Rage that will be uncut on this new release, with more talk of what went wrong on the third film.

Those of you who hesitated on pre ordering the box set, the price is up to 125.99 on amazon now. Though i am sure it will drop back down lower than the originally posted 97.99 price at some point before release day.

Yea, I just noticed that....gave me a chuckle!

$60 is my pain threshold on this one.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I'll probably be willing to pay up to $75 around the day of release to get one final, definitive copy of the first two films. I paid almost $100 each for the boxed LD sets, so $37.50 each for HD copies is a bargain.

And it would be nice to have these for Halloween this year. Otherwise I'm sure by Christmas I'll be able to get them for that price or less.

Here's a pic I took of the Fox exhibitor holding the Comic-Con exclusive. If you look behind her, those are replicas of the sleeping pods on the Nostromo. You could actually climb inside, close the door and watch some video. The line was rather long so I passed.
