Does it matter??? And that's funny because I looked in here before I posted it and did not see this thread.

I'll stick with my Studio Canal HD-DVD (DTS MA) for now.

Apparently it matters to you, because you imply that you already had posted the same news before him.

Double and triple that one. If Lion's Gate could only secure the source material for that one, BD fans would be happy. The German Steelbook HD DVD is fantastic.

This is what Germany is getting. If this is what the U.S. is getting, I think I may just have to upgrade!

I've heard about this also. If it's cheap, i'll pick it up. Does the first edition of T2 on Blu Ray look bad?

Those teeth make it look unintentionally hilarious. Pass if this is what we're getting.

They're including the previous DVD editions with the BD?? That's kinda pointless...

Re: Rumor: New Terminator 2 Release Coming Soon?

I guess I'm hawking my three existing editions (Ultimate, Extreme, BD), pending some concrete details. The head does look a little goofy, but it also looks pretty sweet.

Not if you plan on not including the old features on the new BD. Or the extended cuts, for that matter.

You see, there's no reason why they can't put all of that on the BD. No way I'm $100+ for some extra features.

Re: Rumor: New Terminator 2 Release Coming Soon?

If LG really wanted to do this right, they'd make it a 2 (or 3) disc BD, both 50gb with ALL the extras ever produced.

Obviously they don't because, of course, then they'd blow the chance of double dipping again.

Double dipping? This T2 release will make it like the 10th re-release. At some point they need to put out a definitive version.

I'm not expecting this to be the all inclusive edition, but hopefully it's a step up from the first release. I believe the DVD producer is planning a 20th anni release with all new doc and transfer, etc in 2011 (he posts on HomeTheaterForums). So, I imagine you could hold out for that one...but I've waited long enough.

AoD wins by a mile. The only T2 releases on US DVD I know of are:

1) snapper
2) ultimate (metal single disc at first, later redone as a double-disc with a paper cover if I'm not mistaken)
3) extreme edition
4) technically there is a total recall/t2 double feature with the extreme's disc 1

and 5) there's the existing BD.

So with this we're only up to six. That's a lot, but they were all fairly staggered. It's not like Lionsgate is constantly flooding the market with new T2 incarnations. There are the same number of Reservoir Dogs releases thus far from the studio (snapper, 10th, 15th (gas can/standard), double feature with I think Bad Lieutenant...? and the BD) and I don't hear this kind of complaining.

Re: Rumor: New Terminator 2 Release Coming Soon?

^Correct. I still have the DVD-18 metal slipcase edition which, as you can imagine, I want to rid myself of. That's especially why I want this BD to have all 3 cuts.

Sold the old BD in expectation of this awhile back. Will be picking up the regular, want the deluxe but $175? Not right now.

Looks like it will have a DTS-HD Master audio track:

IGN.com

Along with the article is a trailer promoting the release.

I think I actually like the box art better than the LE set.
