Was this movie shot in 3D (like Creature from the Black Lagoon and Dial M for Murder) or is this a conversion?

I may be wrong, but I think it's a little too early to be part of that first 3D wave. I think it's more than likely a conversion, but I'm too lazy to look up a source.

Cool flash drive! But yeah, I don't think I can justify quadruple dipping on this (counting VHS).

It's a conversion. The movie was not shot in 3D.

Unless Warner has secretly spent the past year and millions of dollars working on the 3D post-conversion or the new bonus material is simply amazing, I'm going to be safe to say I'll be sticking with my current three-disc Blu-ray set.

Thanks. I was weirded out that this was being released in 3D at all so I wondered if maybe there was something I didn't know.

Since I only have the single disc edition from the previous release, I may be tempted once this dips in the $25 neighborhood like all these sets do.

Warner is undoubtedly trying to cash in on the attention given to Disney's 3D sort-of-prequel.

I've already got the big UCE for the 70th Anniversary. I'm not going to worry about this release...

This baby has a list price of $105.43 on Amazon and is currently discounted by a huge 10% to $94.89...

Does this version of the Wizard of Oz blu ray have the original mono track? https://www.amazon.com/Wizard-Oz-Blu...8137331&sr=8-1

The slip cover I have says 75th anniversary if that matters. It's still sealed so I can return it if I need to.

I do not believe the 75th Anniversary edition includes the original mono track. But not 100% certain. The 70th Anniversary release looks to include the mono track according to the specs indicated at Blu-ray.com:

English: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 (48kHz, 16-bit)
English: Dolby Digital Mono
French: Dolby Digital Mono
German: Dolby Digital Mono
Italian: Dolby Digital Mono
Portuguese: Dolby Digital Mono
Spanish: Dolby Digital Mono

I own the 75th Anniversary 3D edition and it is not indicated to be included on the standard Blu-ray disc. The "Emerald Edition" would seem the way to go for your needs. I've seen it pop up used a number of times at local resellers. I'm sure it is available online via Amazon's Marketplace Vendors.

Damn! Can anyone confirm about the 75th anniversary for certain?

So the Emerald Edition is the same video transfer as the rest but has the mono track?

I believe the original mono track is listed under the special features.

As confirmed by Styn1964, the 75th Anniversary edition does indeed include the mono track as one of the special features. You are cleared for unwrapping!

I have both that and the 3D edition, they both have the original mono track, though if you're watching it converted into 3D you're likely not going for purity. These also have a TON of foreign language dubs, far more than what's listed on the cover (many Warner titles do.) Sadly the songs are still in English.

Cool so the version I have does play the movie with the original mono track. Obviously don't care about watching this in 3D.

Well, it sure mesmerized the folks I watched it with as we collectively followed the yellow brick road in my living room. I love watching it in 3D...it added a whole new diimension (pun intended) to the experience. But to each his own.
