I am guessing that the Blu-Ray does not have the blu-jewel case in the box set? I couldn't tell, I had the box set preordered...

Cancelled my Amazon order. I will hope that the WM edition has all of the material but none of the trinkets. If so, I'll be getting it there.

SO, chances are looking really good that the Walmart edition just contains the two BDs in a regular case....for $19.99, I know that's where I am heading Tuesday...

the guy over at avs has said it only has disc one in the case from walmart so no it doesn't have all the material.

The Target Oz set is both BDs + the 6 hour MGM DVD Doc. It comes in a slip sleeve similar to Warners latest BD releases where it slides into the side (Supernatural, Fringe etc.). For $11 more I'll just gran the big box version.

Gremlins has been photographed though so its real.

I'm buying the Target edition. It's over-priced, for sure, but so are all these editions. I want all the discs and the space-saving version, and I love slip-cover cases so it'll look nice too.

Same here. Even though the UCE isn't much more money, I don't need any of the trinkets and the packaging sucks.

Since my ideal version of The Wizard of Oz is discs 1-3 in a regular keepcase and Target seems to be the only retailer offering that, they'll be getting my money, even if it does seem a tad overpriced :)

$11 more? Don't you mean $21 more? It's $34.99 at Target and $54.99 at Best Buy.

I'm fairly sure I'll be buying the Target version if it is as described.

I also buy the idea that we are going to see a repeat of this in November with Gone with the Wind/Goonies.

So does that it means its standard BD case with a slipcover?

From the sound of it, no -- it sounds like the 3-disc set packaged inside that enormous box, and it looks like this (click for a larger version):

(I spent all weekend doing nothing but diving into this set, and I'm hoping to have a review up tomorrow night. Going through eight pages of notes I wrote about the extras alone right now. :))

Target edition for sure for me. Wish it was more like a digibook but i dont want some large box with a bunch of stuff i will never look through. Glad they came out with cheaper versions.

A Target employee on (I believe) blu-ray.com said it was a standard blue keepcase inside the slipcover.

$52 at Amazon vs. $39/$40 at Target with tax is about $11 (well, $12-$13).

From what a user who works at Target said it may the same size as a normal Blu-ray title (which fits in with Warners recent TV on BD releases). Guess we'll know for sure eventually.

i work electronics and we have Wizard of Oz in. It's the three disc set, two blu's plus the MGM documentary. The box is just a normal blu-ray case with a slipcase it slides into sideways. No pics unfortunately.

What is the Target set missing that the regular set has?

Re: Wizard of Oz / Gone with the Wind coming to Blu-ray in the 4th quarter of 2009

I 'think' the Target set is rumored to have the three discs of content, while the larger set has the Digital Copy and extra items. (Watch, Ticket ...)

Crossposting this from Blu Ray Bargains

Fun fact: The UCE is listed as $62.99 at Borders.com. It currently says "available online only" but a) that could just be because it hasn't been released yet and b) I've seen items that said that but were still available in certain stores.

So if you see it in store and you apply the printable 50% coupon you can get the UCE for $31.50

I have a question about Wizard of Oz. Its currently on TBS HD right now. Should i expect almost the same in the picture quality in the bluray as im seein on here? And do you think it will also have the "vertical letterbox" like the Casablanca bluray?

Of course it will be pillarboxed. I don't know about the TBS comparison though.
