Re: Taken (UK release)

I thought I heard that scenes were shuffled in the US version. It's possible some padding was also added, explaining why the US version runs a little longer.

If I can't get the UK release, I certainly hope the US BD is the unrated cut.

I just don't get why they simply couldn't release an R-rated cut theatrically in the US.

Re: Taken (UK release)

After re-viewing the movie, there was very little that needed to be changed or modified to get a PG-13 rating. So broaden you audience by a boatload by making a few insubstantial changes makes sense. (The movie, while violent and painful in spots, was no more extreme than an episode of 24, and less bloody than last weeks episode of Lost (which included a guy being thrown onto knives and the effects of gravity from high places)) -- there was no/very little nudity, very little foul language, and very little blood.

It didn't make sense for Die Hard 4, though. Ugh.

Well that does make sense. Still, I hope the US BD is the unrated cut.

And, yes, although Live Free or Die Hard still manages to be a whole lot of fun in it's PG-13 form, it's really at it's best when viewed in the R rated cut.

Whoop-dee-do Tarantula Town!! Just got an e-mail my order shipped today (Saturday). I guarentee I'll have it by Thursday at the latest. And yet, I still don't have my "In Bruges" BD import from Amazon.com (U.S.) With no ship date in sight. It's still "back ordered". Amazing.

Re: Taken (UK release)

What special features were on this release? I'm hoping for a Morel/Neeson commentary when it comes out in America but I'm not necessarily holding my breath.

Re: Taken (UK release)

I've ordered the UK Version of Taken but I am also ordering the local version of Taken here in Australia being release by Fox because the UK one doesn't have forced English subs for the foreign parts like its Theatrical release. Hopefully the Fox Aussie release will. I'll let you know.

For the foreign parts yes as it was theatrically. Not for the entire film.

Re: Taken (UK release)

Well now that I've seen this theatrically I don't feel such an urgency to get the disc on import. It was good and I will definitely buy the domestic release provided it's an uncut version.

You know now that I think about it, I can't remember any subtitles at all for the Albanian parts. Maybe my memory is just shot.

Re: Taken (UK release)

I remember subtitles for the French stuff but I'm fairly certain there were no subtitles for the Albanian parts.

I too am going to wait in hopes that the US release is the uncut version. This was a fun movie and I definitely want to have it.

Whoah whoah whoah. One of the first posts here said region free. Now it's not all of a sudden? I purchased this friggin' thing and it's on it's way. Now what!?

Re: Taken (UK release)

It was labelled "region free" over at cdwow but apparently that was incorrect, Daytripper.

Re: Taken (UK release)

I just checked cdwow again. They still have it listed as region free and it's at 10% for today only. I wonder if I should go for it and demand a refund if indeed it turns out be region locked.

I think you are correct and the only hardcoded subs in the theatrical release were for the French portions.

Glad to know my meory wasn't off, spizz.

Fifteen minutes to go on the cdwow discount. I think I'm gonna hold out. I hope I don't regret waiting.

Re: Taken (UK release)

Forgot to add that apparently the runtime of 89 minutes is incorrect. The UK BD runs 93 minutes.
