BRD and SD DVD on same disk??

Sorry if this has been posted, but was news to me.

If I understand it correctly, both versions are on one disk and can be read by EITHER a DVD or Blu-Ray player?

Though I believe this will limit the BRD to 25G?

Still trying to wrap my head around this..
