Ichi the Killer - Someday. Maybe.
from Blu-ray.com:
In an early announcement to retailers, Toyko Shock (Media Blasters) has announced that they will bring the infamous Takashi Miike film 'Ichi the Killer' to Blu-ray on March 31st. No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time, but it does appear to be the full cut of the film. We expect to hear more soon.

Thank god it's the full cut, 'cause it'd suck if they only put the first 20 minutes on the disk.

Their DVD is surprisingly good, picture wise at least. With the musical numbers, it could definitely benefit from a HQ audio track -- or, at least from a richer 5.1 track of some sort.

If this is cheap and the transfer is an upgrade, I'll be down for one.
I already have the Uncut R1 Media Blasters release (exclusive commentary) and the R2 Dutch Edition.
Couldn't hurt to have one more edition

And this movie can look quite good in HD, I saw it on film when it was first released and it looked excellent.

I would happily upgrade my R2 Dutch edition with this.

Yeah; especially because the only two region 1 DVD editions available are either non-anamorphic or transferred from PAL with painfully noticeable speed-up issues. Considering it's his most "popular" film, it's inexcusable that there isn't an acceptable disc available.

Ichi is absolutely not one of his worst films, but it is one of his most in your face and polarizing films. It's got a lot going on under the surface, though, and repeated viewings offer a multitude of rewards for the thoughtful viewer. It's one of his best films (along with Dead or Alive 2 and Audition), but is most certainly one that requires work to get into.

I generally appreciate Miike's films, but the one that I just could never get past is Visitor Q. I don't think I could ever sit through that one again.
