Dial M for Murder (3D)...fantastic. Just fantastic. Tense mystery thriller that works on every level. Hitchcock is just masterful.

Arctic...Holy shit was this amazing. So simple, yet the emotions so complex and felt every bit of what Mads’ character was going through. I was tense, elated, sad. Felt it all. This was an amazing performance in such harsh circumstances. Movies like this don’t come along very often and this is a must see. Just enthralling from beginning to end. And the way it ended, just wow. This is an Oscar worthy performance that unfortunately will never in a million years be seen by anyone noteworthy to make nominations or anything. Sheer brilliance by all involved and just in awe of something like this being made. Incredible film, even more incredible performance by a great actor.

Watched Hook this evening. Still fun after all these years, the only performance by Julia Roberts I even care about.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (3D)...just as rousing the second time around. Can’t understand any hate this one gets. Simply a well constructed, exhilarating movie with great acting and special effects. Loved it again from beginning to end and can’t wait to finish this saga this weekend.

Watched Seventh Son this evening. Hadn't seen this since 2015, while not on the level of LOTR or GoT, it was still very entertaining.

Watched the unrated version of Bad Santa 2 this evening. Not nearly as good as the first, seemed like all they were interested in doing was seeing how much profanity they could cram into one movie, and it wasn't nearly as funny.

Watched Snow White & the Huntsman (Extended Edition) this evening. We were both entertained by this movie. Don't get all the Kristen Stewart haters.

Grand remaster over the edgy, overly sharpened earlier Fox disc for this existential car chase classic.
My first viewing of this was back on DVD fifteen years ago. It didn't register much back then and I quickly sold it off. I'd become a fan of Newman's recently watching Petrocelli so I was curious to see this again. That curiosity was richly rewarded.
I think this has now replaced Dirty Mary Crazy Larry as my favorite of the Seventies nihilistic muscle car films. The ending doesn't pack the same punch it did the first time around, but I appreciated the rest of the film leading up to it that much more.
Was particularly impressed by how sharp the editing is and how well the musical soundtrack is integrated.
Last several silents I've tried to watch late I couldn't finish. Usually get too sleepy and have to pack it in. This one kept me alert the whole way through.
It may have lacked the iconic nihilistic sizzle of Pandora's Box, but overall I enjoyed this one a lot more. The mildly sentimental ending didn't grate either, since it was primarily a rebuke of sanctimonious, monied morality.
The restored film still looks fairly rough, with a lot of missing frames throughout- but the new piano score sounded magnificent.
A very satisfying evening of programing from start to finish.
