Concussion

I admit Will Smith did a great job though he tainted it by saying he deserved a Oscar nomination.

Luke Wilson as Roger Goodell lol.

Good but not sure if I would buy it.

Robocop (2014)

Creed

It was good but still think Rocky Balboa was better and if the series ended with that movie it would have been ok.

Fired up the old HD player last night for Notting Hill. Not a huge Julia Roberts fan but I do get a huge kick out of this movie. It's also the one my wife picked out so that's a plus.

The Danish Girl...very good. a little slow and plodding, but purposefully so. great performances, especially by Vikander.

The Hateful Eight Rented the BD this past week.

It was alright. Some interesting characters, but unless you're a hardcore Tarantino fan and must own all his movies, I don't think this has much replay value at all. It's super long at 168 minutes and I honestly couldn't see myself ever re-watching it.

Plus as far as value goes in it's extras, there is hardly anything on it except 2 fluff EPK features.

Saw it twice in the theaters and once at home, and looking forward to watching it again soon. It gets better with each viewing, so

The Hateful Eight

Way too long and no need for a lot of special features but 11 minutes of bonus features was good enough.

Just wished Hollywood would use their editors more since all 3 movies Concussion, Creed, and The Hateful Eight I rented this weekend were 2 hours +

Watched Pompeii this evening, not bad if you're not expecting Oscar material...

It was an Arrow Video kind of night - watched The Stuff and Bride of the Re-Animator. Great stuff and I still have another disc to watch for that Bride set.

Victor Frankenstein...what a POS. i mean spit acting is one thing, but McAvoy must have drenched himself on every take. and the hunchback getting the girl? give me a fucking break. i think i liked Van Helsing better...gasp!

The Man from U.N.C.L.E...i guess i was expecting more Bondish type gadgets and whatnot. more espionage. this kinda fell flat (very little action), like the acting, sans Vikander. she's always fun.

It was average and a movie they should probably dump in the theaters in Jan or Feb. The Frankenstein monster looked lame.

Agree with you on Man from Uncle. I almost fell asleep during that one.

Star Wars the Force Awakens.

It was ok but not that original. Probably the bar was set so high for episodes 4-6 and was asking too much.

The Peanuts Movie

Ok but miss the days of hand drawn animation.

Garden State

First time seeing it in HD.

Excellent and anything with Peter Sarsgaard is usually quality stuff.

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

I watched the Tom Hardy starrer, "Legend." I have mixed emotions about the film because while Hardy's performances are laudable—he played both Kray brothers—the film was a total mess. This film in the right hands could have been a British "Godfather" but it rarely rises above "The St. Valentines Day Massacre." There is no clear timeline and characters are woefully under developed. I was really disappointed in this violent mess. But I will revisit it only because I am a Tom Hardy fanatic.

I of course also watched "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Amazingly, the film has been coming under increasing criticism in a number of forums for being a shot-for shot remake of "A New Hope." That's a ridiculous criticism. The film is at times a moving tribute to the original three Star Wars films and simultaneously sets the stage for future adventures. I love it more after each subsequent viewing. it is my third favorite film in the franchise.

The Danish Girl

It was pretty good though guys that want to be women is not something I understand.

The score by Alexander Desplat was excellent and Alicia Vickander is good in almost anything.

Watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children: Complete this evening. It was a pleasure seeing the characters I've been playing from the game come to life in this movie...
