Late last night: Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), this time with the commentary by the directors and producer. Unfortunately, it was not 90 minutes of apologizing.

This collection is finished:

Because today it was a double feature of the last two:

Of course now I have a ton of extras to sift through.

Is the Rocky Heavyweight the same or better than the Rocky Undisputed Collection Blu-ray?

Undisputed Collection
Heavyweight Collection
New for 2014 is MGM's Heavyweight Collection of all six films in the Rocky franchise, which aims to one-up 2009's ironically named Undisputed Collection. The main draw here is a new transfer for the original and best entry in the series, as well as a handful of new-to-Blu extras on the first disc. Everything else about this release, unfortunately, is basically the same as before, which will undoubtedly annoy rabid fans of the popular franchise.

Been curious to see this for the last 23 years. Despite a lot of promising elements, it was every bit the bland misfire it's reputation suggested. I remember seeing the TV spots back in '81 which used the films dream sequence and made it look like it could be a trippy supernatural thriller ala phantasm. No such luck.

Pretentious, tedious, and ultimately disappointing "classic".

When I saw this I ended up FF most of it. Found it quite boring and an example of hope something can be so controversial and a few years later seem bland.

Entertaining but watching it all I kept thinking of was her appearance on Letterman telling us how she was sick and shitting her pants several times a day.

I was tempted to bail mid-way in and finish watching it some other time. But I hate doing that as I believe it's shortchanging the artists- who labor to craft their films specifically to be digested in one sitting. I stuck it out and can honestly say that I thought the ending rang emotionally true in terms of the behavior of both the characters. That emotional truth was almost enough to justify the build up. But not quite.

The Rocky collection is $22.99 at Best Buy so I will guess I will own the Undisputed and the Heavyweight collections.
I wish they used the UK art for the US releases.

Amazon had the Heavyweight Collection on sale for $19.99 a short while ago. I missed the sale and ended up paying $39.99 for it, but I don't really regret it. I really wish there were extras on II through V, but the huge amount of extras on the first movie make up for that.
As for the cover art, I like the Heavyweight Collection the best, but the UK Undisputed Collection certainly has better art than the US version. Too bad the cover art on UK releases is always ruined by those ugly rating symbols.

Agree plus that UK version won't work in a region 1 player.
Art of the Steal
Now I know why Kurt Russell does not make a lot of movies anymore
The Talented Mr. Ripley
The picture quality was not what I expected for a Blu-ray.
RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman, James Rebhorn, and Anthony Minghella

Check out the 1960 version, Purple Noon, if you haven't already. It's a much better film, and it recently got a terrific Criterion Blu-ray.
