Watched In the Mouth of Madness this evening. Man, the sound mix on this BD absolutely sucked. You could barely hear the dialogue but the sound effects damn near blew you out of your chair. Love the movie, hate the Warner Bros. BD.

Is the Shout Factory cover reversible? I'm tempted to buy it but I hate the artists design they used for the cover.

Watched The Keep this evening. The stereo audio mix (played through a stereo receiver and 2 towers, as well as the TV speakers) in this Vinegar Syndrome HD release is really uneven. Really loud one moment, so quiet you can barely hear the dialogue the next minute. Whoever mixed this is an asshole.

The Terminal…a not often talked about, but great Spielberg movie.

A History of Violence (Criterion)…this has always been a fav of mine since I first saw it. Didn’t even know who David Cronenberg was at that time. I know he’s known for some bizarre stuff, but this was probably more mainstream or at least more accessible than his others. Anyway, this is just a terrific movie. From beginning to end. The twist is so fucking amazing, if you call it a twist or not, but the performances were just outstanding. Whatever happened to Maria Bello anyway? She should be bigger in films. I think she’s been terrific since her ER days. I’ve always thought she was cute. But, she’s been in some movies, The Cooler, another fav of mine, this. She should be in more. Where is she now? But, seeing the Criterion, which looks beautiful imo, was wonderful. I cannot speak more highly of this film and the people who made it and were in it. Great extras too.

Anyone see the Criterion version of The History of Violence? There seems to be an added scene. Correct me if I’m wrong, but there’s a scene in the second hospital trip for Tom where Bello comes in and they discuss all about Joey and Tom on the Criterion. I don’t remember seeing that before. Was that in the theatrical cut?
