The best of the best. For me, this is far and away the greatest sequel ever made. And the presentation in HD is so good, I almost wanted to weep for joy.

I don't know if Video Hound still gets published, but in the vernacular of that book this movie was one great big "Woof!". Even for a Corman production this was incredibly inept. Unfortunately apart from two deaths that are real howlers, and a domestic squabble that provides some startling dramatic electricity, the movie is just a great big, clunkily edited bore-fest.
It's remarkable to realize Hudson had even more grievous indignities, than starring in this, to look forward to just a few years later.
Scorpion did do a good job on the A/V though...fwiw.

"The Pearl Of Death" from

Another briskly paced Universal programer in the SH series. Miles Mander enlivens the outing as Holmes foil, a somewhat Moriarty-esque criminal mastermind aided by Rondo Hatton's Creeper.

There's no raid in this movie. FUCKING RIP-OFF, WORST MOVIE EVER, 0 OUT OF 10.

Oh, sorry. I just wanted to see what it felt like to be a typical IMDb reviewer for a minute. Anyway, very good action flick. 8/10.

Need for Speed

What happened for the Need for Speed when the movie was 2 hrs and 10 minutes?

Aaron Paul probably will not become a big movie star and should stick to supporting roles.

Blended and Taken

Blended was ok though I know a lot of people hate Sandler movies.

Erik Poppe's A Thousand Times Good Night, starring a dynamic turn by Juliette Binoche. She can still produce a powerful performance in the right kind of material. This movie is outside of Arrow Video's normal wheelhouse, the region B-locked disc has no special features.

Gamera vs. Viras (1968)

From this set:

Worst movie of the set by a mile.

The good news is that Volume 1 is over.

The bad news is that four more are waiting on Volume 2.

I hadn't seen 8 Mile since I first watched it in theaters. It was a little strange knowing what happened to Brittany Murphy.

Having no personal nostalgic attachment to it, it just came across as a very desperate and very dated sex comedy. Woody Allen, in one of his first on camera movie performances, came off best next to a "hubba hubba" cameo from Ursula Andress.

"The Eiger Sanction" from

Clint's tough guy scowl frequently seems like self parody here and is not helped by the inane cloak and dagger spy caper shenanigans. You can also see the 'mystery villain' coming at least two acts in advance. The mountain climbing sequences were kind of cool though and the scenery was beautiful. But it's all too easy to see why Eastwoods Indiana Jones-like Professor Hemlock never became a franchise character.
The Region B Universal release could often look dazzling, but almost consistently had a slightly edgy, digital signature to it.
