Jack Hill's The Big Bird Cage. For a low budget classic W.I.P. film shot in the Philippines it looks pretty good. I'm eager to see how the other two fair on the medium.

Beowulf

Ponyo

Both for Animation Challenge checklist purposes, besides being fun films.

Adjustment Bureau moved a little slow until the final chase scenes. Seemed to have trouble building up suspense.

Battle: Los Angeles Take War Of The Worlds, add a healthy dose of Independence Day, mix in a pinch of Black hawk Down and Aliens II then remove any good writing or acting and you have BLA.

Season of the Witch - It's terrible, but somehow it manages to be awesome. Cage and Perlman are in on the joke, and they look like they're having a blast making this movie. Story was actually better than I expected, and the cinematography is great, even though I don't like the digital look of the film.

Grown Ups Picked this up for $4 last week. I've seen it before and it has a few humorous moments but I never would have bought it for more than that

Contact I have a sentimental attachment to this one. It was a very early title to hit DVD and one of the first I owned back in 98. Decent movie but for some reason this disc is authored with the audio considerably lower than other discs. I have this turned up 10d higher than usual

I actually got around to seeing this last night. Solid movie, great visuals but was hoping more on the sound. Think the soundtrack just overpowered everything else....

Paul and again with audio commentary with Greg Mottola, Pegg, Frost and Bill Hader, who had me with his impressions of movie trailer voice-overs.

Although the score is quite aggressive (sometimes too aggressive), I felt all the sound effects were quite immersive.

Living Dead at Manchester Morgue

Always liked the movie and enjoyed the A/V bump on Blu-ray.

Inglourious Basterds first time since I saw it in Japan and it was even better than I remember (although my only complaint the first time around was Eli Roth but it seemed much more natural this time).

Reminds me I have got to get my IB Japanese posters framed, or at least one of them.

Big Doll House - This was everything my 13-year-old self loved. Women in prison, s&m torture, mud wrestling, gorgeous women and Sid Haig. It looks a little rough, though, and the audio is pretty bad.

Speaking of pretty bad audio, I was listening to the title theme and thinking to myself, "Wow, this singer is completely off-key", only to laugh when the credits identified her as none other than Pam Grier! The documentary was great, it was fun hearing all of their candid stories.

I'm in the middle of watching that doc right now. I could listen to Corman speak for hours. I want him to read me stories before bed. The cadence of his voice is so goddamn soothing.

I know, I was thinking the same thing the other day. He'd make a fine hypnotist or psychiatrist. I love the way he always has a slight smile on his face, as if silently acknowledging the inherent absurdity of whatever he's discussing.
