Love this film. The last 20-25 minutes are awesome.

I have the same attitude towards horror movies, I would open to any suggestions of movies on par with this one.

Desperado - One of my favorite movies from when I was younger. Remember watching it with my dad whenever my mom would leave town for the weekend, what a fun flick...Also, I didn't remember the banging scene, but enjoyed that too.

It's in a league of its own, but you may want to check out other Carpenter films from that era if you liked it.

Tangled 3D: Enjoyed the film quite a bit. The 3D effects were above average.
Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D: Decent doc. Superb 3D effects.

I despise the genre, too. That being said, The Thing is my second favorite horror film (and i love it). My favorite? John Carpenter's Halloween.

Despicable Me - on my newly purchased Oppo BDP-83 player. Great funny movie and all as I've already seen it but the Oppo player was just sick!

Megamind @ Dolby Digital TrueHD 7.1 Discrete Surround!!!

FYI NOTE: Megamind was one of the first films released theatrically in Dolby Digital TrueHD 7.1 and is the first Blu-ray disc encoded with the same, unmodified theatrical DD TrueHD 7.1 mix!!!

Hard Rain (1998)

This was my first time watching this flick and goddamn I had a blast! Just a big dumb entertaining movie.

The Pacific Parts One and Two.

Not nearly as good as BOB, but I'm enjoying re-watching the eps. with "enhanced viewing." Quite the history lesson.

When it was done I had a much better appreciation for what the boys in the Pacific theater went through. The series itself didn't seem to lend itself to getting as emotionally involved with the characters

Tron + Tron: Legacy

It was great to revisit Tron again and I enjoyed it even more than I did when I saw it years ago. Tron: Legacy though, was a real disappointment. While the movie was undeniably gorgeous, the story was pretty convoluted and a lot of what happened just didn't make a whole lot of sense. The lead (whatever his name is) was pretty ineffective and Jeff Bridges seemed to be portraying, not Kevin Flynn from the first movie, but an older Jeff Lebowski, which just didn't work for me. Olivia Wilde was great, if underutilized; Michael Sheen was a lot of fun to watch; and Serinda Swan was effective in her role. I was also disappointed we never really got to see Tron in the movie, although I did appreciate Bruce Boxleitner as Alan Bradley in the real-world segments. Daft Punk's score was great; might have to pick up the soundtrack after all.

Run Lola Run--great film that I'd avoided for whatever reason. Loved the techno soundtrack.

I actually watched Escape from New York before The Thing and found it pretty good too, definitely a Kurt Russell fan here.

I never even gave Halloween any consideration, but I'll be picking it up now. Very excited after reading many good things about it.

Recently rewatched Big Trouble in Little China because it's such a badass movie.
