Fantastic Mr. Fox - Flawless PQ, really stunning. Very enjoyable movie, I don't like the second half as much as the first so its not perfect IMO but still very good.

Last night, I watched "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo," what a great movie. As others have mentioned their are some definitely graphic scenes but I really enjoyed it..

Shutter Island - First time re-watching this since I saw it opening weekend in the theaters. I'm probably the only one that thinks this is better than Inception. I love everything about this movie (except for Leo's perfectly trimmed facial hair that makes no sense). Outstanding PQ also.

My son hasn't been around to continue out BoB marathon so I popped in Into The Blue just because it has some great shots of Jessica Alba's ass

Tried watching 'A Simple Man' but really couldn't get into it - gave it 45mins to no avail.
Now just have the 'Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Soundstage on and its near perfect in picture and sound

Speed Racer - I really don't get how WB can deliver an amazing stellar video transfer, but fail at not encoding lossless audio

Legion - Horrendously stupid. Every decent scene was shown in the trailer, as I suspected. On the plus side, PQ and AQ are superb, though the AQ is a bit uneven.

Dune - I don't even know what to say, this movie was just completely bizarre. Even for sci-fi, it seemed a little out there, I'll be re-visiting at some point....eventually.

Alfred Hitchcock's NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959): I'd never seen this one before and it just blew me away. Screw critical thinking, this is Alfred Hitchcock's greatest hits (mistaken-identity innocent man, icy blonde with something to hide, hilarious on-screen Hitch cameo, purposeless McGuffin, exciting set-pieces with sky-high production values, etc.) all wrapped into one pretty package of color-soaked VistaVision goodness that simply shines on Blu-ray. The opening titles alone (thank you Saul Bass and Bernard Herrmann!) gave me goosebumps. Cary Grant's on-screen charisma and star-wattage in this movie alone could power a small town for weeks.
Rewatched Godard's VIVRE SA VIE (1962): nice Adrian Martin commentary track; a good time was had by all (of me).
Michelangelo Antonioni's RED DESERT (1964): I knew Monica Vitti was in this movie but didn't expect her character's state of mind and the way she reacts to her surroundings to be front and center throughout. Richard Harris and Vitti stand out from a decent but obscured-by-the-visuals supporting cast. Not the sharpest BD I've seen but, as an artistic visual expression of man's ability (or inability in the case of Giuliana) to cope with his man-made ecological disaster, Antonioni's cinematography and production design really shine in high-def. Need to rewatch though because I'm still not sure whether I liked the movie or not.

Watched the outstanding BLACK NARCISSUS last night. Breathtaking does not even begin to describe the total presentation. What a masterpiece of visual storytelling. Tonight I'm watching THE RED SHOES, I'm expecting nothing less than greatness...

Clash of the Titans (2010) - the 'maximum movie mode' is fantastic - the bluray producers throw so much into this they forget the kitchen sink
- the alternate ending is a bit lame IMO but interesting to see.

In Bruges
This was the third or fourth time I've watched the film, and it was still as enjoyable as ever thanks to the performances. PQ as good and the AQ was good as well, when it really kicked in. Disappointed that they did such a lazy job with the extras though.

Last night I watched my recently purchased copies of John Rambo and Saving Private Ryan. Both sounded fantastic and looked wonderfully gritty.

Did you Hear about the Morgan's?
If you did, forget about what you heard because that was an hour and 42 minutes of my life lost. Actually about half of that because I fast forwarded most of it and missed absolutely nothing.
