To Live And Die In LA- $63, WHAT?! & WHY?!

Just checking the releases for 11/4 on Amazon & saw this is $47 to preorder & the list price is $63. What's going on there? Is it an import? If so, why is it on the US store with regular preorders? I've ordered imports before & they weren't listed there.

Yes. The product description on the Amazon page says:
"Japanese Import only Blu-Ray Region A pressing."

Usually it will say "import" under format (like for "My Blueberry Nights", which I REALLY want). The release date is misleading, though, as "To Live and Die in L.A." was available in Japan months ago (I got it from Xploited Cinema), and it's like they arbitrarily chose the availability date on U.S. Amazon as a "release date".

Almost Famous also has an incredibly high price. Most of them are Japan imports. I'll wait until we get them in the states or Amazon lower their prices considerably.

You can order it from Amazon.co.jp for $40, plus shipping.

Never order imports from Amazon.com. If they have a Web site in the country of origin, order from there. It's always been cheaper for me.

If I'm reading Amazon.co.jp correctly, though, their shipping to North America looks like 2000 yen ($21.00) for one DVD/Blu Ray. It comes out cheaper at U.S. Amazon for the item I looked at.

Almost Famous BD you can get from the UK and it plays on Region A players. It's pretty cheap and is available in a lot of the B2G1 sales.

You do hafta save up and order enough (three or four titles, at least) to make it worthwhile. Amazon.com charge $20 extra per order to ship anything to Canada, too.

I live in the UK and ordered mine from cdjapan. Well worth the money (this I'd one my faves) but it doesn't come with all the extras but the sound and picture are great.

One of the most awesome car chases ever put to film. Worth twice that much, if you ask me.
