Both of those new announcements do nothing for me. Oh well. More money in my pocket, I guess.

The One starring Jet Li is a definite must buy for me.

"Billy Jack"!?? Oh dear Lord. That thing was filmed with what looked like an 8MM camera. I hope no one shells out good money for that in HD.

The One, Ghosts of Mars - March 17

A couple more crap titles from Sony. Looks like all the dvd extras included.

Yeah Sony, screw movies like Leon - we need more classics like the above!

I agree. Who the fuck wants "The One" and Ghost of Mars"!? But it's not just Sony who release head scratchers. "Things We Lost In The Fire"?? And what the hell is "Lady Death: The Motion Picture"!?

Where are the release dates for these? Both will be huge sellers.

No dates for them yet. Probably next Nov-Dec.

Next Nov-Dec !???? Amazon shouldn't put the covers on their site just yet then. It's giving people false expectations. That's almost a year away.

I'm not even sure we know if the covers are official yet.

Given how popular the two titles are I would assume they will want to announce them a few months ahead of time. I don't see them being released in the spring for that reason. Most of the studios shy away from releasing big name catalog titles in the summer as well. That's why I guessed we would see them in time for the holidays.

'Journey into Amazing Caves' is one of the most fascinating IMAX films, because of it's cinematography and how claustrophobic it conveys.

It's based on a comic book.

Has "How To Lose Friends and Alienate People" been announced for BD yet? THe DVD is coming in less than a month, but I don't see any BD info.

I don't believe they're releasing that in the US on Blu. I have the UK Blu on preorder with Amazon UK for $25 shipped, though it's coming a month later than the US DVD. It's listed as a Paramount distribution and I think they're region free.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III

It's MGM in the US, so Fox is probably to blame for not releasing it.

Gizmo 01-20-09 01:30 PM

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III

MGM has been skipping a lot of releases on Blu-ray - City of Ember and College being the two most recent (yeah, the movies suck as well and made no B.O. Money, but other studios release crappy Day and Dates all the time).

Ugh, thanks. Guess I'll wait for region-free verification.

No City of Ember BD?!? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Dammit I don't even check the new releases anymore these days, I just assume they're coming out day and date. Did they release a City of Ember BD anywhere? I'm also going to have to import the How to Lose Friends... BD as well. Crapola.

All the new ones of course are going to be BD but the old ones I've been making do with my original releases. I was so tempted during the holidays to grab the Amazon deal for cheap, but that would have only made me want to upgrade everything.

With a tip of my cap to Grubert, it has been announced that the entire run of the original The Prisoner is coming to Blu-ray in 2009:

So I just got an email from Amazon letting me know that we can now preorder Lost Season 5 on Blu-Ray. I wish they would improve their current deals instead of something that is probably not coming out for quite some time ....
