Possible purchase. Flawed, incomplete, and not perfect, but great performances from Brolin, Dreyfuss (will probably end up being this year's Robert Downey Jr. in Zodiac), Wright, Cromwell, and Burstyn, and Oliver Stone's first good film since Any Given Sunday. Maybe they'll offer a two-for with Nixon.

Does anyone know any specifics about those discs, more specifically, runtime? I wouldn't mind getting the Elephant & Bugs ones.

^Awesome, I've been waiting patiently for the re-announcement of SOTL. Hopefully Hannibal too (yeah, I liked it).

Zen Peckinpah 12-01-08 11:48 AM

Fingers crossed for the SE extras ported over. If not, no sale (unless I can score it for mad cheap).

I don't have any Bond movies yet, but the only MGM title I own (of all the ones that are extras-free) is RoboCop, and that was only because I it was a BOGO on Amazon last year.

bunkaroo 12-01-08 12:02 PM

Only two years late on SotL.

Don't be surprised if it's MPEG2.

Sad but very, very true.

A rental at best for me.

Per Jeff Kleist of the Digital Bits, Paramount has removed Braveheart from the release schedule. It was supposedly arriving on 1/20.

damn it!

Maybe they are saving it for a Father's Day promo or when "Edge of Darkness" releases next year.

PopcornTreeCt 12-01-08 05:09 PM

Well, that sucks. But honestly I'm not surprised as there didn't seem to be any information on that title.

Just gimme Gladiator.

Fuck me.

Doesn't Mel have a new movie coming out? It'll probably be tied into that. At least that's my best guess.

Gizmo 12-01-08 07:36 PM

Braveheart was never "officially" announced.

I mentioned this in a thread at AVS. Is it me, or have there not been any Dreamworks catalog titles released yet? (Excluding certain co-productions and stuff like Shrek 3 that was already on HD DVD). I wonder if their split from Paramount has put the rights in limbo or something. Universal will be releasing their films theatrically, but I don't know if they get the catalog titles as well.

I hope it's still Paramount, honestly.

Drexl 12-01-08 08:30 PM

Yeah, Universal distributes Gladiator overseas.

PopcornTreeCt 12-01-08 08:47 PM

Are Universal Blu-rays region free?

Looks like that might be Munich in the top right.

That would be awesome.

Listed at DVDEmpire:

Saw 5 (unrated) - 1/20
Nick & Norah's Infinite playlist - 2/3
Repo! The Genetic Opera - 1/20
Max Payne SE - 1/20
Beverly Hills Chihuaua - 3/3
W - 2/10
Samurai 7: The Complete Series - 1/20
Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder - 2/24

I'll pick up that Pelican Brief disc as Warner never bothered to rerelease the original DVD flipper. I'll probably pass on A Time To Kill. I'll have to check what other flippers they had, as maybe they'll be releasing those on BD sooner than later.

Mr. Cinema 12-02-08 09:16 AM

Um, A View to a Kill will probably be sometime around 10/23/2009; that DVDEmpire listing would be "A Time to Kill"
