I give you people credit, after about the third asinine question I gave up. The writing is too small, the questions too dumb and it kept interrupting my movie watching.

In fairness, even some of the asinine questions could have yielded some interesting details had this been a video commentary. It's hard to get into much detail through text replies.

Exactly.

I figured out how to get in. I had to login with all lowercase letters for my screen name. It had never told me I was logged in improperly. Interestingly enough, I REGISTERED with uppercase letters in my username but checking online it shows BOTH uppercase and lowercase versions. This solved my problem.

I gotta say, I'm pretty pissed at WB for messing this up at all. I also hope the next time they do something like this it has video and is not just text messages.

Supermallet 12-18-08 08:45 PM

Did anyone else notice that he called Eric Roberts one of the "great actors of his generation"?

GenPion 12-18-08 09:01 PM

A lot of these questions seem stupid to me. I wish he would answer one of mine. ;)

Roybq 12-18-08 09:12 PM

Question: What do you think of this BD Live event so far?

C_Nolan: I getting tired and I have to pee soon. :)

Update: Apparently, he's peeing.

That was pretty funny, actually...

I know. I thought that was weird.

Oh, and he's taking another pee break. He said his next film should be shorter.

Roybq 12-18-08 10:34 PM

C_Nolan: (after the moderator says we're taking another break) I gotta pee. It's a two-pee movie. I got to make a shorter movie next time.

I appreciate the pee breaks myself, but he couldn't have waited a few more minutes? It's almost over!

Seriously, right? That was my thought as well. Maybe he is also looking over the questions to pick some really good ones for the last few.

Nolan answered one of my questions!

I was the one who asked about the comic book eyes.

Awesome, and I actually never even realized those were the comic book eyes until that question came up!

Good question!

fumanstan 12-18-08 10:52 PM

I hope there's a transcript.

Same here. I hope he answered one of my questions in the twenty minute period I wasn't able to connect.

In any case, I feel disappointed. And did anyone else think it was weird how the film itself had to be streamed or whatever? It was a low quality encode compared to the Blu-ray and having on Dolby Digital 5.1 audio also annoyed me.

Seemed like the regular BD to me... ???

TheMovieman 12-18-08 11:27 PM

I don't think it was streamed (was it?). I only watched half of this and not once was there a lag or anything (versus when I tried watching the commentary which is streamed).

Yes, it's under the community screenings section, which you can find in the "Express Yourself" category. It's only a text chat, which is kind of lame. I thought it would be a video stream of Nolan answering questions that were sent by the participants via their computers. On that level it's disappointing, but it's still fun.

So let me get this straight. People sweat and cry and orgasm and wait for specific players for BD Live for the last year and the presentation of the decade is......text that keeps cutting out?

Darn, I missed it.

Yea, no way that was streamed.

Weird... well, the video seemed to suggest an encode with less data when I pressed the info button. Maybe because of the chat it just wasn't playing properly somehow for me? I don't know.

The only two things I noticed when checking the info display:

1) No runtime, which in this context made sense
2) The bit-rate, which seemed quite normal.

The video looked quite normal to me; I didn't last too long, though- boring stuff. :(

GenPion 12-19-08 12:55 AM

I might have been mistaken. It wouldn't have been the first time. ;)

But I was definitely not enjoying myself as much as I would have liked. I wish at least one of the 50+ questions I submitted would have been answered.

stingermck 12-19-08 07:26 AM

I thought it was cool, me and 2 other friends watched most of it. For a free event, and something WB and Nolan didnt have to do, it was interesting.
