Because even less people will buy the sequels if they're separate.

Based on previous Fox catalog releases, these will be a price drop over time. Wait 6-9 months, and it's possible these films will be $19.95 list and available for $13-14 each.

i didn't care much for any of them past the second, but does anyone know if the documentary and other bonus material will be included with the separate releases? i don't know that i want to pick up the set, but the bonus material seems interesting and that doc is fantastic.

Deep discount has posted the individual disc contents. New text commentary by Eric Greene on escape that wasn't mentioned in the press release. And it looks like they shot cheesy intros to each film with the people from apemania, who have their pictures on the covers, and not the actual actors!

I would love the BR set, but I may have to stick with the SD Set.

Way too much money.

$100.00 is too much money for all you're getting? Really?

Spoke to Eric Greene. The blurb about a text commentary on Escape is a typo. He never did one for Escape.

The specs also give a 100 minute run time for Beneath, which has always had a run time of 95 mins. This is suspect as well. Probably another Fox typo.

I suggest you email them and they'll probably bring it into stock for the 20% off sale. They usually do.

i found it (finally), by clicking on the 'sci-fi' tab and searching by release date. it's about $97, which after a possible 20% off would put it around $78 or so. not too bad.

What would have to be kept from the Ape head set in order to have a "difinitive" collection? Any extras on the movie discs that are lost?

The Ape head set came with the TV series, as well as the cartoon. That made it worth it for me to keep mine, & upgrade the movies to Blu.

I suppose I'll do the same. No point in taking up so much space.

Best Buy's online price just went up to the in store price. $99.99. I was hoping to use the 10% instore coupon on the 91.99 price, if there is one for Nov, which would make it the lowest release price even with sales tax, but no dice...

Best Buy's price for the first one is $34.99. So for this week, 3 copies of the original cost MORE than the box set. Insane.
