Total Recall UK is superior to the American version (as is the HD DVD)
T2 is the Directors Cut not Theatrical like the US one

Everything else is not available in America.

I picked up the US version of Total Recall and was completely underwhelmed. I think my SE MArs tin looked better in most parts.

I don't get it. There were 3 items you wanted that were priced for $18 each, which equals out to $54. Now those same 3 items are $23 each with a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal, which equals $46, a savings of $8. And that's bad?

I understand that certain titles often have their prices raised during these sales to not make them a great deal, but this is the perfect example of why these are still considered sales. You would save $8 on the titles you want, and by your own admission the raised prices are still about the lowest around.

Basically, IMO, I'll be able to get each of them for lower than $15 if I keep an eye out for sales or folks selling them here or at HDDigest. And while it does seem to be the cheapest way right now to get these 3 new, only 1 of them is a high want, the other 2 I'm in no hurry to grab. So that's my logic behind it, it makes sense for me, maybe not others.

So to save $1-3 dollars (by getting them lower than $15 each let's say), and have them be used, and have to be on the lookout for the deals on various forums....shouldn't you just buy them new now?

Aktick, I certainly understand if you would prefer to buy these used or at a price that is less than the about $15 each it would be from Amazon right now, but I guess I don't see what that has to do with "Amazon's stupidity."

Amazon.com wont even let me order three titles from their B2G1. I add three to the cart and proceed to checkout and no discount is ever given.

Yeah, you're probably both right, but I'm a stubborn SOB who holds petty grudges (until their next great deal, then all will be forgotten).

A few questions about Amazon.co.uk. Are the prices in pounds or euros? What does shipping typically cost?

I went to Amazon.co.uk and tried logging in with my normal Amazon account and it worked. They know about me. I don't see any indication my Prime membership is good there, darn.

How easy is it to return an item? Amazon makes it incredibly easy.

^Amazon UK prices are in pounds. They also remove the VAT charges during checkout so the price you pay will actually be a bit less than the price you initially see on the item page. Their regular international shipping is very reasonable (I believe it converts to around $5-6 for a DVD/BD package) and it's VERY fast delivery, usually within a week. Can't help you with UK returns as I've never had to do one.

But they do require you to register to see their prices. They wouldn't be gathering email addresses, would they? Nahhh...

I've ordered several times from Amazon.co.uk and had to return/replace several damaged DVD sets. The process was as easy as Amazon.com!

Fuck. I have the US Total Recall version. I saw some screenshots from the HD DVD version, and it looks rather bright--too bright, imo.

As always, beware of some of those Studio Canal HD DVD's. Total Recall and Basic Instinct have pitch issues.

The UK Optimum Blu-ray's are very inexpensive as imports and definite improvements over the LG discs. Same with T2.

I didn't have a pitch issue with Total Recall HD DVD...but maybe I just never noticed it. IMO, the PQ is a huge improvement over the BD version.

Huge improvement over the BD UK version, or the US BD version.

Re: One & Only HD/BD Bargains Thread Part III: Back in Training

Does Amazon UK have a currency converter so that I can figure out what I'm really paying without having to go elsewhere?

Generally speaking, will the BD's on Amazon UK play in my US region player?

Generally speaking, sometimes. Some UK discs are region coded (most aren't), which won't play in your US player.

Also, your US blu-ray player might not play PAL content. In which case, it probably won't play the extras. And if there's a forced trailer in SD PAL before the menu/movie, that could cause problems too.

Check the list at this site:

http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b

Oops. You can't figure it out without having to go elsewhere. I guess you're screwed!

Slightly off topic, but Assault on Precinct 13 is included in the Amazon Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer. I haven't heard anything about the quality of the Blu-ray. Anyone here have it? Opinions?
