All my stores look identical to what they did several months back. The expanding can either be because of sales or because the stores are becoming overstocked with titles that are not selling. Why Best Buy thinks 50 copies of Spider-Man 3 and I Am Legend is a good idea is beyond me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say sales, just a guess however based off of seeing many, many more people in the BD section at every place I go to.. but at the same time, when it comes to BB, I see an overstock on a few titles (I am Legend, All of the James Bond films, and occasionally the new releases) but it's not too different over the DVD counterpart either.

Anything over $19.99 for a single movie bothers me no matter where it's sold....

Shooter and The Italian Job BD's can be had together for $23 at BB, which makes each of them $11.50.

The same pack at Amazon is $27.49.

I can offer up several more examples as well.

Offering up bundles isn't apples to apples though.

I have noticed that they routinely have a few catalog titles at $14.99.

edit: Sorry, i'm not trying to swirl up another one of these BD sales figure/Blu-ray living or dying threads. All I can say is I have no problem buying BD's from a B&M.

I was just reading that article on Best Buy. It's funny how nowhere in there is pricing mentioned. It only talks about informing the customer of the benefits and making the product available. Nothing about being competitive with their pricing.

I noticed this Christmas season that most of the advertised "sale" prices for BDs at best Buy were in fact the same price as the sticker on the disc. Rarely was anything "on sale" in the traditional sense except for a handful of movies here and there.

In the past, DVDs appeared to all be with $1-$2 of each other at various retailers. Now, it seems that BDs are often all over the board with prices sometimes over $10 more in some places. I guess the bottom line is, we are all used to doing research to get the best possible price. With Blu-ray, we just have to be a little bit more diligent in our search for good deals.

Re: Local Target offers up Major BD Expansion

Target continues to sell newer catalog titles closer to Amazon's price. There are exceptions, but I noticed price tags for these:

Wedding Crashers $19.99
Friday the 13th $19.99
Sideways $19.99
King Kong $19.99
Little Miss Sunshine, Napolean Dynamite, Office Space $24.99

These are all $10 off the list price. Previously, Target has usually only discounted $5 off. I'm glad to see the change. I've noticed I'm buying alot less at Amazon, due to more aggressive sales from Target and Best Buy. I don't mind paying tax if I can get something that day.

Target might want to first learn how to alphabatize their BD fixtures before doing anything else

I'm Jewish but the right to left thing just ain't working

Re: Local Target offers up Major BD Expansion

Target is expanding their BD section again. Looks like about 24' more feet of various catalog titles.

Yeah, saw the new expansion yesterday. Mostly garbage titles at ridiculous prices (Maximum Risk $22.99? ), but at least they're supporting the format.

I was in a Target during my lunch break that had made this change. The sd-dvd section looked really puny now.

Mine added more too but its still not that big. It basically is one row and another row that's only about half or maybe three fourths the size of a regular row. Then they have others scattered on various endcaps. Regular DVD's definitely still have a bigger presence though. Also most of the titles were pretty shitty and highly priced.

Mine has two rows as of this week. Not many deals though, and they have animated/family films on one side and everything else on the other. Seperate section for box sets.

^Noticed yesterday that the Target here had done the same. More space for BDs but fewer sale prices. So many endcaps also have BDs now that I find it hard to scan everything quickly looking for the elusive (non-existent?) deals.

Re: Local Target offers up Major BD Expansion

They did add alot of catalogs, which is a good thing. I can see many of those being cheap on Black Friday and beyond.
