'Pleasantville,' '10,' & 'You've Got Mail' 2/1/11
3 catalog releases from WB coming Feb. 1, each carrying an SRP of $19.98
“Pleasantville”
In the black-and-white ’50s sitcom realm of “Pleasantville,” mom always has a yummy meatloaf in the oven, the home team never loses and romance is a shy peck on the cheek. Until now. Because modern, real-life teens David (Tobey Maguire) and Jennifer (Reese Witherspoon) are mysteriously zapped into that TV world, and with them come ideas and passions that turn the town’s cozy perfection into something more challenging and colorful. From Gary Ross (“Big,” “Seabiscuit”) comes an imaginative fantasy that maintains its humor even as it reveals its own true colors about embracing life in all its messiness and unpredictability. Don’t touch that dial. Stay tuned to life in “Pleasantville.”

· Commentary by Writer/Director Gary Ross

“10”
Blake Edwards’ “10,” a spicy comedy of manners, morals and midlife crises, captures many moods, sometimes sexy, sometimes thoughtful, sometimes slapstick – but always on target. That target is 42-year-old composer George (Dudley Moore), a man who has everything (including patient singer girlfriend Julie Andrews) – and who may just chuck it all on an obsessive quest for a beautiful woman (Bo Derek) he glimpses en route to her wedding.
An iconic crowd-pleaser, “10” propelled the movie careers of Moore and Derek and gave Ravel’s Bolero a fiery new romantic context. And it stands as one of its director’s richest, most fully realized works.
“10” is the quintessential expression of mid-life crisis for the 1980’s and beyond!

· Vintage Featurette: A Dream…a Fantasy…a TEN!

“You’ve Got Mail”
The stars (Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan) and director (Nora Ephron) of “Sleepless in Seattle” reteamed for this charming audience favorite. Greg Kinnear, Parker Posey, Jean Stapleton and more great co-stars add note-perfect support to this cinematic love letter in which superstore book chain magnate Hanks and cozy children’s bookshop owner Ryan are anonymous e-mail cyberpals who fall head-over-laptops in love, unaware they are combative business rivals. You’ve got rare Hollywood magic when “You’ve Got Mail.”

Yeah, I think New Line got the message and righted their ways. It's not the "same company" that put out A History of Violence and Elf a year and a half ago.

Thank God we're in bowling alley!!
Probably 10 since the original release is ancient. I would like to get Sleepless In Seattle instead of Mail but it's nice to see the catalog titles being paid attention to.

I'm in for all 3. Especially "10", to get rid of the snapper case and flipper disc. ^^ I agree about Sleepless in Seattle. Would also like Hanks/Ryan's Joe Vs. the Volcano.

Aw, I wish Pleasantville would've gotten a better treatment with new extras... seems perfect as a Digibook release in my mind. I'll pick it up at the $7.99 level at this rate.
"You've Got Mail". Oh man, my girlfriend is gonna love that. Oh the time before text messaging... and iPhone. Nowadays it would be called "Gawd, this crazy chick won't stop texing me" starring Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan.

You've Got Mail Can anyone remember when email was a novelty?

I remember when I had some free e-mail program that you could pick up at music stores. It still seemed really cool back then, as I type this response on my iPhone, using WiFi to post to a message. I think places like this where called alt.xfiles or something like that. Of course, I was in Grad School when I heard the words, "you've got mail." And back then it was all about the free trial and as many accounts as you could create without having to pay.
I'm in for all 3. My dad took me to see "10" and I'm sure I was too young. I don't recall anything other than knowing there was something about boobies that I really liked.

New Line's video distribution arm is no more. It's all operated, controlled and distributed by Warner now.

But some of the 'old' stuff is still in the pipeline (see Alliance releases). Warner will recycle them if its cheap. But none of these were previous Newline stuff so it shouldn't matter.

I've never seen "Pleasantville" but it's always seemed interested. I'll probably check it out when it hits $10.

Pleasantville should look great. Bo Derek will probably look great too.
Haven't seen You've Got Mail in years. Should be an amusing period piece.
