If you feel this way, then why do you own Planet Terror and The Boondock Saints Steelbooks?

If there are going to be Bond blu-ray steelbooks, would they be the size of a regular blu-ray case or larger?

Blu-ray Steelbooks are traditionally the same dimensions as normal Blu-ray cases.

Some people simply like them, and enjoy collecting them. They are a collection within a collection for many people. Including myself.

I have the Boondock Saints steelbook, but it wasn't because I sought out a steelbook. It's just the way the movie came. I would postulate that danyanez is in the same boat. He buys movies, and some of them just happen to be steelbooks.

From a personal note, I'd gladly accept steelbooks, but generally wouldn't pay more or go out of my way to get them. If the Bond steelbooks are only available at Best Buy, I won't get them as I'm sure I can get the movies cheaper elsewhere.

Boondock Saints was a steelbook in the initial run, so no option there. Planet Terror, I bought it at Best Buy because it had an extra dvd included in the steelbook.

I guess some people collects steelboks, regardless if they like the movie or not.

Sorry to threadcrap. I'm waiting for "The Living Daylights".

You continue to make weird and inaccurate leaps of logic. No one here said anything about buying a movie they don't like just because it's in a Steelbook.

Close enough.

I didn't say I didn't like the Bond movies. I'm not crazy about them, but I've already bought them twice, and a triple dip would have to have something extra, even on high def.

If you're going to quote me, don't misunderstand me too.

Jeff Kleist, of the Digital Bits, posted on blu-ray.com that Best Buy "should" have these as exclusive steelbooks.

Woah...I was gonna wait on a complete BD boxset but that might push me to go ahead and get them.

Not a huge steelbook fan/collector but having them for James Bond would intrigue me if they look good.

That is awesome. Did Fox confirm a full Bond box set? Because if so, I will hold off until that comes out and get them all at once.

Overpar 10-02-08 07:14 PM

Thanks for the link! Interesting article. I'm too much of a Bond fan to wait for a complete set! I got them on pre-order.

I don't think the market is big enough yet to do huge boxed sets. We saw that with the Kubrick titles that weren't even released in a set.

I think they'll do waves of titles every now and then, and then maybe when they're done they'll package them together.

PopcornTreeCt 10-02-08 07:57 PM

Have we ever gotten a full Bond box set? VHS maybe?

James Bond Ultimate Collections DVD Set

That article/review has gotten me even more excited. I'm glad I pre-ordered Dr. No and From Russia With Love during that Columbia House B1G1.

Very nice. Even though it looks like it's just a big box holding the smaller box sets in it.

The films had previously been remastered for DVD, but Blu-ray is such a big step up in terms of detail-visibility that the Lowry team had to start from scratch

I really hope that the end result is film-like as I remember seeing them in the theater and not over-processed like the DVD remasters.

Well, in that case, I'll just keep my pre-orders of the Connery films and buy the individual titles I want as they come out.

A post at AVS has pics of the packaging for Volume 2:

I wish they were individual cases, but the savings is so substantial that I'm OK with it. However, I will be getting the Steelbook of Dr. No.

Giles 10-10-08 09:41 PM

I really hope Best Buy has good prices for these releases, I have fifteen bucks in GC's I plan on using on them.

Tough call, that is a big savings. Right now, I'm leaning towards buying all the Connery Steelbooks from BB & the later individual titles from Amazon. Hopefully BB throws us a bone & knocks a few $ off 1st week.

ETA: Wow, $24 each at Amazon, that's not much better. So eventually the whole Steelbook set comes to $600 + tax at BB, damn. (Give or take some $) already been there & done that 2x with the LDs and 1st issue DVDs. :(

kefrank 10-10-08 10:38 PM

I'm torn. I like the look of that box set MUCH better than the individual cover art images, but I don't plan on buying every single Bond movie again. I really don't need them all. So, I'll end up with some box sets and some individuals. Ugh.
