My copy of From Russia With Love was like this. I'm considering exchanging it at Best Buy, as it's my favorite Bond film and the empty hub irks me.

What BD player do you have?

Kinda hard to comment on that one since no one has it as it is not released until next week on the 28th.

I prefer to hear from the public when several are out there than one review from a magazine.

I prefer the single hub too, but how are you going to exchange it? Its not faulty, and you've no guarantee of getting a single hub replacement unless you start opening them in the store.

I'm sure if I explain the situation and ask for an even swap they'll give it to me. And if I can't open the case inside the store, I could just shake it. If it's on the first hub the way mine was, it will rattle.

But how would you know the replacement you get has a single hub since it seems like it's quite random as far as which cases get the double hub or not.

There is some major issues with these discs on numerous players. For example, 5 out of the 6 work fine in my LG 200 (For her Eyes Only does not). Others are reporting issues with the Sharp player, Samsung 1200/1500, Panasonic 10 and Samsung 5000. Who knows if these will ever get fixed.

Can anyone explain a good reason why these films have never been released in order? I mean I understand some are more popular than others, but it makes no sense.

Let's start with the assumption that they will pretty much always be released in waves because 20+ at once is too rich for most people's wallets. If they put them out chronologically in groups of 4, the wave with Octopussy, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights, and Licence To Kill is going to be a dead spot in their revenue flow. If you group them in sets of 3 you run into the same issue several times too.

I don't think there should be much complaining this time because all the Bonds are being released individually at the same time they are showing up in a box set. When the Ultimate Editions came out a couple of years ago, the only way to get them was to get a box set with 1 or more movies you don't care for too much. I'm happy with the way they did it this time. One box set worked for me and the other didn't, but I was able to get the lone title from the set I didn't like as a single. I couldn't do that when the UEs came out.

Anyone with Profile 1.0/1.1 players chime in at the thread below if your player actually plays the films or not?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1077630

Multiple players, with up-to-date firmware, can't seem to play them. Including the Sony BDP1, BDP300, Sharp, Samsung 1200/1400/1500/5000, LG 200.

That's a good assumption. Personally I plan to just upgrade to BD the ones I enjoy and just keep the "Ultimate Edition" SD versions of the ones I watch very occassionally. Those SD versions do look and sound great.

Also, you have to assume that they're purposefully releasing some of the weaker movies because they figure people want Bond on disc now and aren't willing to wait for the better ones if there's nothing else available. Hence us getting Die Another Day, For Your Eyes Only, and Live and Let Die instead of Goldeneye, The Spy Who Loved Me, and [insert your next favorite Bond film here]. I mean, hell, I hate For Your Eyes Only and I'm half considering getting it based on how good the others look.

Timothy Dalton gets no love. He was one of my favorites and far, far better than Roger Moore.

A dead monkey would be better than Roger Moore. Of his films I only ever truly liked The Man With The Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me. I can enjoy the campiness of Live and Let Die and Moonraker, but he was just an out and out wrong choice for Bond.

Oh god, they could put Moonraker in the snazziest looking steelbook case, but I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.

No, all the Connery steelbooks. Interestingly, my BB was out of Die Another Day, of all the films.

Edit: I just went back and re-read my original post, not only do I specifically mention that I only bought the Connery ones, but that I was considering going back to get the others price matched. Learn how to read.

I always enjoy these Bond threads just to hear all the different opinions of people's favorite Bond actor or movie. There are just so many different takes on what people like. My least favorite Bonds are always someone else's favorite. I first started going to 007 films during Moore's heyday in the 70's, so my view of him is very different than yours. Even with all the disagreements on who the best Bond is or which film is the best, these threads never turn nasty like so many other ones where people have equally strong opinions.

Which Best Buy do you go to? The one I go to would never let me price match and use coupons.
