Yeah, I didn't mind buying it. Especially since now it seems like Chinese Democracy will actually come out before The Whole Bloody Affair.

Slightly OT but TF1 Vidéos of France has announced the release of a Blu-ray SteelBook.

Isn't that the day Evil Dead IV opens?

I don't care about the Steelbook part so much, it's just that covers are very eye catching IMO.

Definitely, I love those cover designs. Wish they would use those on the North American releases.

Another site had this in their review

'Also contained in the package is a $10 rebate coupon for those who purchased the original DVD of the movie and who are upgrading to the Blu-ray.'

Does anybody know if you would get $10 for each in the Amazon Exclusive that is both movies for $39.95.. 2 for $20 would really be sweet

I don't know, but this sounds promising. I hope I don't have to cut the cover art for the rebate as that will make me really upset and I might not even do the rebate then.

That $10 rebate doesn't sound like a bad deal. I just bought 1 & 2 on DVD at Circuit City earlier this year for $4.99 each.

I might actually bite if I can pick up both for $20.

Also love the art on those French steelbooks, especially for Vol 2. The red/black scheme on the US release is just fucking hideous.

For those that haven't seen the cover yet, it's reversable so that, if you want, you can have the movie poster art for your front-cover, instead of the Uma Thurman photos. The only down side to the flip-side is that the spine will now be blank.

I haven't scanned my covers, but they're roughly the same as these two posters (minus some text here and there):

I was excited until you mentioned the spine will be blank on the reverse side. Doesn't sound like it is truly a reversible cover then .. sounds more like the image is something to be seen through the inside of the case, when you open it.

Went to pre-order on Amazon, the low reviews caught my eye. I guess I lot of people thing "the whole bloody affair" is coming out the following day or something and apparently that gives the Blu-Rays a 1-star rating.

Well that is understandable of them.

No one wants to spend $40 on movies when the dvds can be bought for $10 total and with QT telling us that the real version of Kill Bill is on its way.

Yes, that's obviously what it was designed for, but they do provide a cool option because of the way Disney/Miramax did them.

LOL, people have been waiting since 2004 for the "real" Kill Bill to come out. I've enjoyed my KB DVDs many times since then, but the last i checked they weren't in hi-def, so my well spent $40 will have that problem fixed next Tuesday.

Me too, this will be a triple dip for me, but these films are worth it. And it's cool to hear about the rebate coupon too.

Why do all the cool steelbooks never end up being released in the U.S.? You would think a limited release would do very well here.

I heard that both volumes come with a slipcover as well. Couldn't the case's cover art be reversed with the original posters showing once the slipcover is removed? That way the title will still be on the spine when you put it on the shelf but once your pulling it out it will look cooler than it does with the standard DVD art.

Just an idea.

No picture but found this:

Both Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment are offering inserts in some of their new and upcoming releases for a $10 Mail-In Rebate for Current DVD Owners. The films included are some of the definite “MUST-OWN” Blu-ray Discs of the year. Below you’ll find a list for each Studio.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment:

“Kill Bill: Volume 1“
“Kill Bill: Volume 2“
“The Sixth Sense“
Paramount Home Entertainment:

“The Godfather Collection - The Coppola Restoration“
“Transformers“
“Old School“
“Stardust“
“Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street“
“Zodiac“
NOTE: Each of these offers limits you to only one rebate per household. In other words, you can only get one $10 rebate from each studio. But still this is a great offer and definitely worth taking advantage of to save yourself a little bit of money if you already own the DVD(s).

I got the news about the rebates too late, my Kill Bills had already sold on Amazon marketplace about a month back...ditto with the Godfather At least the wife can get the one for Sweeney Todd.

Same for me. From now on I'm going to pull out the POP tabs before I trade in my SDs to FYE.
