Awesome news! One of my Top 5 favorite films of all time is getting the Blu-Ray treatment. That is a first for me! I'll be getting this as soon as a decent price hits them for sure.

i stand corrected, but there's obviously some sort of pricing pattern. good=35. crap = 30. not a "price increase"

If we had only seen this pricing on Narnia and National Treasure 1, I'd agree it's a "premium catalog" thing. But the fact that Signs and The Recruit came out at the same price point suggests this is an across the board change for catalog titles. Gangs Of New York has also been announced with a 34.99 list.

The summer slate is actually pretty devoid of Disney catalog titles. It almost seems as if they are trying to focus on getting more money for less releases.

I'll buy, if only because The Whole Bloody Affair is taking a bloody long time to arrive.

I'll get these. I think I got the original KBs at $10 a piece so I'm sure there will be some $20 a-piece sale for these before the end of the year.

Guess you're not sensitive to edge enhancement, which that disc has plenty of.

Me too. So far I bought the US versions, the Japanese boxsets, even the UMDs, and I don't mind buying yet again when it comes to these films. And if Weinstein finally releases the Whole Bloody Affair in the future, I'll happily buy that too. I don't care, I'll buy them all.

This news gets three bananas from me.

This should look awesome on BD. Hopefully there will be a deal upon release. This is a title I will gladly dip on again. I would love to hear this film with the new audio formats available. Lossless? Sign me up!

Pass, I'm sure this is the reason they have held up the 'Whole Bloody Affair', they wanted to release the theatrical cuts in BD to milk it for all it's worth.

If I can get these cheap, I might bite, but I definitely didn't like them enough to jump on them on release day.

EDIT: And to add something to the thread without crapping on it, I think it's great that we're getting some good catalog release announcements. I just wish they'd start flooding in, instead of trickling.

Pass. I have the Japanese 2-disc import with all of the cool parts left in (House of Blue leaves in color, etc.)....looks pretty good upscaled.

I'll buy Whole Bloody Affair if it ever gets released.

I hope so too, the color uncensored House of Blue Leaves sequence is S-I-M-P-L-Y Incredible! and the arm looping, the stomach/gut spill etc. etc.

Normally, I'd tend to agree, but in this case we are talking about two different studios having the rights to the two different cuts. I think the hold up is more due to some combination of Tarantino's normal procrastination, and some "growing pains" related problems and issues that Weinstein Co. has been experiencing since going out on it's own. (just my opinion). The extended cut's release just doesn't seem to be a big priority for all parties involved right now.

Give him some slack because he has one of the best names I've seen in the forum so far.

Although I absolutely love both Kill Bill films, I'm going to pass on these until The Whole Bloody Affair is out. See you in 2012!

I've got the Japanese box sets for 1 & 2 so upgrading for US theatrical cuts will take some thinking. I'll jump on a Japanese BD set if it comes out.

So, while we're at it, where can I procure "The Whole Bloody Affair" SD DVD set? Anyone know of a specific site?

I'm afraid that cut isn't even on SD DVD yet. Unless there's some unauthorized release floating around out there that I don't know about (and if there was, we wouldn't be able to talk about that anyway )

I'll get these. I may or may not get TWBA if/when it's released... I've lost interest at this point.

That's what I get for being out of the loop. So what does the japanese boxset consist of then? I'm sorry i'm getting off-topic, I can bring this question elsewhere.

Based off the descriptions being given, it sounds like both volumes cut into one movie, complete with the sword-fight with the Crazy 88s being in color instead of black-and-white.

I thought all of Disney's catalog titles were $35 until The Rock and a couple of others came out at $30. Then something happened and they raised the price back up to $35. They may have lowered the price on some earlier titles though.

There were separate Japanese premium DVD box sets for Volume One and Two. Volume One consisted of the Japanese cut of the film (the House of Blue Leaves segment in full colour with added footage there and in other scenes as well. You can find more specific details of this cut elsewhere, but it is a far superior version of the film IMO) along with a Be@rbrick figure, Okinawa t-shirt that is the same as the one the Bride wears in the film during "The Man from Okinawa" chapter, a miniature Hattori Hanzo katana, and a booklet. Volume Two included the Japanese cut DVD (only slightly longer with minimal footage added to the whorehouse sequence near the end of the film), a Pei Mei keychain, a Be@rbrick figure, a t-shirt and some cards. These sets are long out of print, but you could probably still find them on the secondary market without too much trouble (I have no idea what they sell for at this point though).
